Historia
When he became a father, Michael Lewis found himself expected to feel things that he didn't feel, and to do things that he couldn't see the point of doing. At first, this made him feel guilty, until he realized that all around him fathers were pretending to do one thing, to feel one way, when in fact they felt and did all sorts of things, then engaged in what amounted to an extended cover-up.

Good performance, uninteresting content.
Revisado: 12-12-23
The performance on this book is really engaging. The performer does a good job of acting out the different characters without being over the top. Unfortunately, the actual content of the book itself is not interesting or engaging; it's essentially just a collection of anecdotes without any real point or purpose. Yes, the anecdotes center around the author's experiences as a father, but this is a far cry from a "guide", accidental or not.

Historia
This is a self-help book for people who don't usually buy self-help books. Instead of offering cognitive-behavioral techniques for dealing with anger, or affirming strategies to boost self-esteem, this self-help book adapts the basic methods of psychodynamic psychotherapy to a guided course in self-exploration, highlighting the universal role of defense mechanisms in warding off emotional pain.

Insightful book; should have included a PDF
Revisado: 11-30-23
The book itself is very insightful, but it does itself a disservice by not having an accompanying PDF for the exercises and some of the lists within the book that would be easier to digest in written form.
