Good Story
Revisado: 04-30-25
I enjoyed this book but while the book ended on a continuation I don't understand the reviews that didn't get the follow through. Book 2 is about Ian Walsh and he was the one that stated there was a problem. Don't want to give anything away but it is clear based on evidence found that Ian could have some issues. Read Book 2 - all the answers will be there. So while there is a question at the end I figured the author would follow through and she did! I really like the narrator - she does a great job!

Historia
Washington, DC, 1950. Everyone keeps to themselves at Briarwood House, a down-at-the-heels all-female boardinghouse in the heart of the nation’s capital where secrets hide behind white picket fences. But when the lovely, mysterious widow Grace March moves into the attic room, she draws her oddball collection of neighbors into unlikely friendship. Grace’s weekly attic-room dinner parties and window-brewed sun tea become a healing balm on all their lives, but she hides a terrible secret of her own.

Great Listen
Revisado: 03-18-25
I enjoy Kate Quinn's books, this one I wasn't sure about but WOW - it was so good. I love how we are introduced to each character and the relationships built. Narration was amazing - I enjoy Saskia's reading very much. The stories of each woman and how they intertwine was just amazing. So glad I listened to this book. Worth the credit for sure!!

His passport read Giovanni Rossi. But decades ago, during the Urban Wars, he was part of a small, secret organization called The Twelve. Responding to an urgent summons from an old compatriot, he landed in New York and eased into the waiting car. And died within minutes… Lieutenant Eve Dallas finds the Rossi case frustrating. She’s got an elderly victim who’d just arrived from Rome; a widow who knows nothing about why he’d left; an as-yet unidentifiable weapon; and zero results on facial recognition.

Revisado: 02-07-25
I really enjoyed this book. Getting more background and getting to know Summerset and his band of compatriots was great. I always love these books but this one really stood out for me and it was a great story. The only complaint I have is oh crap it's over! Love this series ♥️

Enjoyable Listen
Revisado: 02-05-25
The last couple of listens (not by this author) were not very inspiring or interesting for mysteries. I liked this one, the characters were good and there was actually something happening. It was an easy but good listen. Glad I used a credit!!!

Too Much Romance Not Enough Mystery/Thriller
Revisado: 02-04-25
The premise of this story was interesting but focused (for me) too much on the angst of the the 2 main characters falling for each other. I can manage some romance but this was the constant theme throughout and less time on what was going on with the mystery of why the Secret Service agents were being targeted. If you enjoy the romance then this book is for you. I won't be continuing the series as it's just too romantic.

Seriously Horrible
Revisado: 01-31-25
I think this should have been called the "Brenda Nevin" series. It was awful - the book spent more time describing her and her horrible deeds then Stark and Waterman searching for Nevin, I just got so tired of the descriptions of what was going on and the amount people killed was over the top. Sorry but hope there is no more of this ugh. While I think the narrator was ok, why does a book with many more female characters than male have a man reading, I think the author just hates women!

Getting Tired
Revisado: 12-07-24
I've enjoyed this series until this group. The stories are starting to repeat - same basic plots. The religious zealots - ugh. Stone and Dehan always solve but many times innocent lives are taken. It's just getting old for me. Taking a break from this series - not sure if I'll come back.

I really enjoyed this book. The book hit many points for me - had lot going on yet easy to move with the story. I didn't want it to end. Really enjoy the Travis Devine character and this book put him in unfamiliar territory on a personal level and I love how it was handled. Want another book!!!! Sorry it ended.

Seriously - It's 2024 Not 1954
Revisado: 10-27-24
First let's get my aggression out! How is it possible to still read and I'm sure it's still a popular theme in real life in some places to treat women as less than males bc of her gender? Not one male in this book besides Cecil and her dog Officer Grey with respect., Every single male was an egotistical chauvinistic pig! Even Shane as an old friend is awful as well. She is verbally abused at work and is treated less than respectfully. Her family is not too kind and take advantage. I wish the author would have given Taylor some guts to stand up to people. I can't continue this series as a woman it's just too hard to take. The book made me angry that the main character was smart but ends up looking weak. Sorry just too much male dominance.
