Historia
Holding power for over 50 years starting in 1327, Edward III was one of England's most influential kings and one who shaped the course of English history. Revered as one of the country's most illustrious leaders for centuries, he was also a usurper and a warmonger who ordered his uncle beheaded. A brutal man, to be sure, but also a brilliant one.

Engaging from start to finish!
Revisado: 04-25-25
Thank you Mr. Mortimer. I’ve been searching for a more accurate and interesting history of his life. I indulge in a lot of historical fiction, but I always yearn for the non-fiction of a favorite character. I’ve always had a love/hate relationship with Edward due to the fiction. I still do, but now I have more of an appreciation for him as a man and a king. Excellent book! Well done!

Historia
Henry V reigned over England for only nine years and four months and died at the age of just thirty-five, but he looms over the landscape of the late Middle Ages and beyond. The victor of Agincourt, he is remembered as the acme of kingship, a model to be closely imitated by his successors. William Shakespeare deployed Henry V as a study in youthful folly redirected to sober statesmanship. For one modern medievalist, Henry was, quite simply, “the greatest man who ever ruled England.”

I’m a huge fan of Dan and I’ve been hoping that he would tell us about Henry V. I appreciate Shakespeare but not enough to enjoy more than once. I own both The Plantagenets and The Hollow Crown in my tv video library and my Audible libraries. I will also watch any tv program he graces.
Thank you Dan! Looking forward to anything else you do💜

Incongruent with accurate historical information regarding the king and queen
Revisado: 03-22-25
I like Ms. Chadwick and the narrator’s voice but it was hard for me to listen past the first chapter due to the depiction of Henry III being afraid of an intruder and Queen Eleanor being 16 years old, married to Henry, and trying to have an heir. Eleanor was Queen of France at 16 and married to Louis and trying to have an heir. When she became Queen of England she and Henry had one son, William, and she was carrying her son Henry. I couldn’t make my brain move past the inaccuracies in order to get into the story. I am now trying to get my credit returned to me.

Enjoyable version of history!
Revisado: 01-31-25
I didn’t think that I would make it through the first chapter of this book because I’ve long loved the novel, The First Princess of Whales, which provides a different version of the story, opposite relationship dynamics, and a different motivation for the character’s behaviors. Because I love Elizabeth Chadwick’s works, I continued to listen and became completely engulfed. Well done!!!

Best-selling author Tasha Alexander crafts compelling works that are equally celebrated for their intricate plotting and historical authenticity. A Crimson Warning features beloved character Lady Emily Hargreaves, who can usually be found waltzing or reading from the Aeneid when not fighting for women’s suffrage. Lady Emily’s enjoyment of the season, however, comes to an abrupt end when the red paint being splashed on doorsteps heralds ill - even deadly - tidings.

I don’t typically enjoy mysteries, but I love the narration of Bianca Amato. She could recite the alphabet and I’d wish for more letters after Z. It is she who kept my attention long enough to appreciate the authors talent. I plan to listen to more of her work. Well done ladies!

It still hurts and angers me!
Revisado: 08-13-24
I was born and raised in West Philly and lived a few blocks from the Africa Family. In 1978 I was 13 years old and had family who lived down the bottom on the same block as the Africa family. My understanding as a child was that Move were naturalist, were vegetarians, and didn’t participate in politics. That wasn’t strange to me. My dad and one of my moms were vegan and one of my moms came from a family whose religious community didn’t participate in politics. I just found Move’s Locs fascinating and wondered why the women always walked in the street when they came through our block. Never on the pavement. They were always polite and ready to share their beliefs. The incident in 1978 was horrible but at age 13 I didn’t really understand what happened.
Fast forward to 1985, I’m away in college. All the way in Austin, Texas, and I turn on the news in the morning and my neighborhood back home is on every station! It was breaking news coverage. I was frozen. My body and brain felt ice cold and I remember going into the bathroom and vomiting. When I called home my Nana said, it’s really bad Re. Call back when your aunt gets home from work and she’ll be able to explain it better. With the 1 hour time difference and breaking news, I witnessed the horror show before I could get my aunt on the phone. They murdered those innocent people. Murdered those beautiful innocent children. I watched the burning homes of people that I grew up with, went to school with, and played tennis with in Cobbs Creek Park, and I was devastated, embarrassed by and ashamed of my city of “brotherly love”. I cried for weeks, missed classes, and was required to see the school counselor. When I came home to visit a few months later I walked around the corner and didn’t recognize the block. My heart ached. Years later I never watched not one documentary on the tragedy because I didn’t think that I could deal with it.Now, age 59, I made myself listen to this podcast. My heart still aches and I’m still angry. There’s no recompense for that horrible act. No amount of monetary award or the rebuilding of homes on that block can undo what happened to that family and our neighbor’s homes, the homes of my childhood friend’s parents and grandparents. I could say more but didn’t mean to write this much.
Thank you to the author and all contributors. Especially for the understanding of events that led up to the 1978 tragedy. Well done!

Few books have captivated the imagination and won the devotion and praise of readers and critics everywhere as has George R. R. Martin’s monumental epic cycle of high fantasy that began with A Game of Thrones. Now, in A Feast for Crows, Martin delivers the long-awaited fourth book of his landmark series, as a kingdom torn asunder finds itself at last on the brink of peace . . . only to be launched on an even more terrifying course of destruction.

This book was like a bad dream. I could only listened as far a Brienne before I wanted to drag my fingernails across my face. The narrator sounded like a very drunk pirate. Ugh! I’m disappointed but glad that I only wasted a credit. Ugh!

Laborious
Revisado: 05-25-24
I found this book, in part m, very laborious. However, that is one of the reasons that I enjoyed it. Because I’ve read or listened to almost every available piece on the missing princess, I’ve recognized how the laborious writings have won much of what can be interrupted as the truth. My associates have always asked me, “But who’s truth”. I usually smile and tell them, the truth that I’ve believed since I was a teenager. King Richard loved his brother King Edward. He would have never killed his brother’s sons. The Princes were rescued and kept safely in exile for the remainder of their lives because their mother would never have lived the remaining years of her life in the manner reported if she believed they were deceased. She and the Princesses would never have left sanctuary and Queen Elizabeth would have never allowed her daughters to return to court under Richard’s Kingship. Without proof of death or life, Henry and Margaret did not live in peace. Good!
I appreciated the family connections disclosed by the author. She must have had a ball with her research, discoveries, and writings. Good!

Not Just Another Cinderella Story
Revisado: 05-12-24
While I appreciate the idea of the story being told from the stepmother’s point of view, the content didn’t feel substantial enough to carry it off. The narrater was very good and her talent is one of the things that held my interest. The other thing was my waiting and hoping for the story to give me something more. All in all, the idea was very good.
