Love it
Revisado: 03-21-25
I always enjoy the dramatized versions of Agatha Christie! And this one didn’t disappoint. But did anyone else find the music choice a bit odd? It felt more like tropical music rather than Halloween.

Historia
Half-hidden by forest and overshadowed by threatening peaks, Le Sommet has always been a sinister place. Long plagued by troubling rumors, the former abandoned sanatorium has since been renovated into a five-star minimalist hotel. An imposing, isolated getaway spot high up in the Swiss Alps is the last place Elin Warner wants to be. But Elin's taken time off from her job as a detective, so when her estranged brother, Isaac, and his fiancée, Laure, invite her to celebrate their engagement at the hotel, Elin really has no reason not to accept.

This was used as our Book Club book for June. I really wanted to like it, esp with the closed circle trope being used. Too many characters made it hard to follow the story, and with over 90 chapters, about 40 of them could’ve been taken out. I can see how this story could’ve been great but the suspense was just a bit on the underwhelming side. The narrator did a fantastic job! Just wish the story could’ve been tightened up and maybe a different villain chosen with a different reason as to why everything happened.

I love all of Dick Francis’ books, but the last sentence of this book put it at the top of the list for me. You get pulled into the world of racing and it doesn’t let go until they say “The End”.

Historia
In the tourist town of Wharton, on the coast of Lake Superior, Tess Bell is renovating her old family home into a bed-and-breakfast during the icy dead of winter… As the house’s restoration commences, a shuttered art studio is revealed. Inside are paintings Tess’s late grandfather, beloved and celebrated artist Sebastian Bell, hid away for generations. But these appear to be the works of a twisted mind, almost unrecognizable as paintings she and others familiar with his art would expect.

Phenomenal
Revisado: 03-27-23
I started this book on a Sunday when I had yard work to accomplish. Wasn’t sure how I would feel about it when I first pressed “play”, but I was immediately sucked into the story and kept finding more chores to do just so I could keep listening!! I can’t praise it enough. The narrator is fantastic and the characters are so well thought out that you forget they aren’t real people. 5 stars from start to finish!!

The book after the cliffhanger…
Revisado: 03-17-22
I know a lot of people were disappointed that episode 25 doesn’t follow the story line after the cliffhanger in episode 24. But that’s because there’s a whole stand alone book, that’s over 6 hours long, dedicated to the plot of Jack being back in America. Episode 25 follows that stand alone. All the books are incredibly well written and narrated! My favorite series to listen to!

Perfect in every way but…
Revisado: 09-25-21
I really liked this book. Yes, it’s a typical “guy needs to marry to get his inheritance” but it’s well written, the male narrator is wonderful and it moves along quickly enough to not get boring. BUT!!! The female narrator‘s British accent is awful! I like her just fine when she’s reading for the female MC but it’s almost cringe worthy when she’s reading for the male MC. Kind of disappointed but glad it was free and I didn’t waste a credit.

Historia
Welcome to an elite Connecticut kennel club where shocking secrets gnaw at the best of the breed and competition has a sharp - and deadly - bite. As if raising her son Davey, training her rambunctious Poodle Faith for the show ring, and grooming fellow handler Sam Driver for romance aren't enough, Melanie Travis's entre into the exclusive Belle Haven Kennel Club has been met with a grisly murder. Unfortunately, the only witnesses to the crime were the victim's startled pair of Beagles.

Great!
Revisado: 09-09-21
I really liked this story! I read a lot of cozies and while this wasn’t my all time favorite, it was well written and kept me engaged until the end. The narration was a bit fast pace so I just slowed it down to .80 and it worked much better! I would definitely recommend it as fun and light reading. Perfect book for the end of summer!

I really wanted to like this
Revisado: 11-23-19
I listened to this on Audible. I love R&L and came in with high expectations. The book quickly drew me in and was enjoying the words. And then, about half way through, it got weird. Dark. Strange. The stuff of nightmares. I don't read horror, watch scary movies and so please understand I don't have much to compare this to. My mind can be a scary thing by itself and so I read/ listen/ watch fun stories of inspiration and positivity. If you are similar to me, skip this book. I fastforwarded through about a third of the book to get to the end but wish I just would have stopped much sooner. Child abuse is not something I want in my head, even when surrounded by comedy. I spent $23 on a book that I'm truly hoping won't bleed into my dreams and turn them into nightmares.
For those that like horror, you might enjoy this.
