In 1970, one of Mississippi's more colorful weekly newspapers, The Ford County Times, went bankrupt. To the surprise and dismay of many, ownership was assumed by a 23 year-old college dropout, named Willie Traynor. The future of the paper looked grim until a young mother was brutally raped and murdered by a member of the notorious Padgitt family. Willie Traynor reported all the gruesome details, and his newspaper began to prosper.

Great storytelling as usual!
Revisado: 04-15-25
I’m a huge fan of Grisham and Ford County. I’ve not missed a book and this one does not disappoint. Michael Beck is my favorite reader for audio books. His voice and drawl are synonymous with the Ford County stories. 5 Stars for me

Historia
Pete Banning was Clanton's favorite son, a returning war hero, the patriarch of a prominent family, a farmer, a father, a neighbor, and a faithful member of the Methodist church. Then one cool October morning in 1946, he rose early, drove into town, walked into the church, and calmly shot and killed the Reverend Dexter Bell.

Grisham and Ford County!
Revisado: 09-11-24
Good story and great story telling. Good to hear a story from earlier years in Ford County. The characters I love in the more current eras like the Wilbanks. My favorite author by far. Love Michael Beck reading.

It’s ok to skip this one!
Revisado: 09-09-23
I love Stephen King and Holly’s character was one of my favorites but this book is mediocre at best. We all know what it was like to live through the Covid pandemic. But it’s clear the King couldn’t help but let his political agenda shine through.
I read books to escape not to rehash the bad times. Simply put a gray chance to was squandered.

Historia
They call themselves the Brethren: three disgraced former judges doing time in a Florida federal prison. One was sent up for tax evasion. Another, for skimming bingo profits. And the third, for a career-ending drunken joyride. Meeting daily in the prison law library, taking exercise walks in their boxer shorts, these judges-turned-felons can reminisce about old court cases, dispense a little jailhouse justice, and contemplate where their lives went wrong.

Very Good Story
Revisado: 06-28-22
This book is a classic Grisham read. The story grabs you right from the beginning. Frank is a fantastic reader and I highly recommend other audiobooks that he reads. The story keeps you interested for every hour of the book. One of Grisham‘s best in my opinion.

Bert Kreischer doesn't know how to say "no." If he did, he wouldn't have gotten himself mixed up with a group of Russian mobsters on a class trip to Moscow, earning him his nickname: "The Machine." He wouldn't have wrestled with a bear or swum with sharks on national television. He wouldn't have (possibly) smoked PCP with a star of Saturday Night Live. And he wouldn't have been named the Number One Partier in the Nation by Rolling Stone, inspired the movie National Lampoon's Van Wilder, or performed standup to sellout crowds across the country.

Laughed out loud
Revisado: 06-20-22
I will admit I’m a huge Bert fan so this may be a bit biased. However I believe that anyone who loves comedy will enjoy this book. To hear how he got to where he is was Truly enjoyable. Getting inside stories straight from the author just can’t be beat!!

Love Ford County Tales
Revisado: 08-24-21
The performance is great as always with Mr. Beck reading. Nice to hear a story with Brigance, Harry Rex and the gang. Having seen the movie A Time to Kill I have faces placed with characters in the audiobook. I didn’t love the end but it was to be expected. More great storytelling and writing.

Reads like a research paper.
Revisado: 03-27-20
I’m disappointed in this collection. The narrator is dry and reads like a high schooler forced to present their report to the class.
The content is unoriginal with endless citations of others who had written on the subjects. I had hoped for a more involved look into these killers not just a retelling of facts that others had reported in previous books.
Not worth the time.
