A Disappointmet

It just never got off the ground. The first two were thought provoking reads. This one, not so much.

Historia
From the Badlands to the Bluegrass, this perilous, potentially deadly adventure changes the lives of everyone involved and puts at risk the survival of the Clan and all the Celtic brooches. While dressing for a dinner date with her cousin George Williams and James Cullen Fraser, Ensley Williams picks through her jewelry box for some bling to add to her outfit and chooses her late mother’s sunstone brooch. Engraved on the inside of the stone is an inscription. When she recites the Celtic words, she’s engulfed in a peat-scented fog and transported back to the Dakota Badlands in 1885.

Don’t need make and female
Revisado: 02-23-22
I’m old enough I don’t think I need both male and female readers. The male doing a Scottish accent is ridiculous trying to mimic Sean Connery (sp) and it’s really quite annoying. I really have enjoyed all the books and am surprised the author manages to keep the story going for so long. I look forward to the next book.

In this grand saga of love, war, and magic set in the tenth century, young Sigrid is destined to be the mother of the king of the Nordic lands that would become Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and England. A devout believer in the old Nordic gods, Sigrid is visited regularly in her dreams by the goddess Freya, who whispers to her of the future. Hoping for better
Revisado: 03-04-20
The story had great potential but the author seemed to run out of gas. The build up came to a smuh conclusion. I felt I’d wasted a lot of time listening when there are better books than this. Very disappointing. The reader was comical in her overdone pleadings and lower register male voices.

Historia
Tindr is handsome, kind, and the best hunter in 9th century Gotland. He possesses a deep empathy with animals, which powers his reverence towards the game he takes to survive. But he is also deaf, which closes him off from the society that surrounds him - and seemingly, from finding love. Devoted parents and friends can't protect young Tindr from the bully who taunts him, from jealousy that turns murderous, or from the threat of surrender to the allure of the Lady of the Forest, who might destroy him.

Not Outlander.
Revisado: 03-28-17
Being a uberfan of Outlander series, I was looking for something to read that would keep my interest. This story was only comparable in its length. There is no mystery in this book. Everything was pretty much telegraphed ahead of the story. I also downloaded the second book, but these. Characters just don't Intrigue me at all. I really don't care what happens to them, sorry to say.

The first book, One Second After, was so much better. The story wasn't as disjointed as the second. I should have left well enough, alone.
