I'm relatively new to the LitRPG genre and had the good fortune to get a complimentary copy from the author to listen to. This is a great introduction to the genre and I am sure it has all the elements that the more experienced LitRPG reader would look for in a story arc.

This is the story of Justine, who creates monsters for the game by day and raids dungeons by night. Justine's brother had passed away and there was a shrine in his honor in the game, which was now being threatened. Justine reforms her brother's guild to complete her brother's quest. Justine sets out to complete the Dragonsbane quest, wrestling with the personalities of the guild and fighting the Archangel hackers at the same time.

I thoroughly enjoyed the story, especially because it was conceptually simple enough for this novice to grasp early on and follow through on my afternoon workout sessions. I thought the performance was perfect and look forward to the next in the series - Lady Thunderlord.

This set of five books chronicles the life of Ren Lewis, a man both encumbered and gifted with the ability to Dream Travel. In Book 1, we see Ren in his early days as a young boy in his family of origin and follow Ren through to Book 5 with the story of his final days. In between, we learn about his love for Dalia, his work at the Lucidite Institute and his daughter Adelaide. Ren is the type of person you love to hate, but is really a complex character who displays empathetic moments. I didn't pay too much attention to Ren's relationship with his father, but it's something I'll go back and listen to when I get a chance.

I have the audiobook version of this set. There are two things I would say about my experience listening to these audiobooks.

First, there is plenty of humor and lots of witticisms throughout; early on listening to Ren reminded me of reading Terry Pratchett's Discworld books. There is the same kind of dry humor in both and it's rare that I'd read something and chuckle.

Secondly, I don't remember how I wound up with the books, but I never really liked the paranormal genre and always steered clear of it. And now, I found myself listening to a series that I was fully engaged in right from the beginning. Dream Traveler Ren Lewis and Sarah Noffke may have won me over.

I think the books were masterfully written, with full attention paid to the necessary details of Ren's complex life and those around him. Tim Campbell does an excellent job of narration and the audio production is excellent. All told, a marvelous omnibus collection worthy of reading or listening to.

This is the story of Mason Dixon, a bartender by day and hitman by night. The challenge for Mason comes when a woman, Hannah, comes into the bar and Mason does not immediately realize that she is his mark. Of course, their relationship develops in a way that it should not for a hitman and then Mason becomes conflicted between his job and his feelings. The story is told in a very straightforward manner that is easy to follow in an audio format and it made for a very entertaining listen.

The narration by Harmon Gamble was excellent and I thought the overall production and performance were great. The story was good enough that I will find the second in the series - not sure if it will be audio or ebook just yet, but I know that I can count on Thacker's work to be entertaining and well worth the investment.

This is my second book by Glede Browne Kabongo. The first was an ebook and this, an audiobook. I was immediately drawn into the story and kept there by the author. The storyline was nearly perfect and it helped for me that the subject was around STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) fields. This was easy to get through and very entertaining on the drive to and from work. The ending was a shocker for me - I won't say anything, you have to read or listen to it for yourself.

Browne Kabongo did her research in writing this book and the precision to which the science was presented was perfect. You could not help but feel you were right there in the story. Please read or listen to this book if you are looking for a good thriller.

I really enjoy Meridith Potts' work. Like usual, this was an entertaining listen with an excellent production. The storyline was well done and I must say that after several guesses, the murder came as quite a surprise to me. My review is very late (apologies to the author), but I've been spending more time listening than writing, If you are not familiar with Potts' work, I encourage you to try it - hard copy / ebook / or audible. This production was excellent.

I almost did not finish listening to this book. The first time I tried to listen to it, the narrator's monotone voice coupled with what I took to be character names that were hard to remember (and follow) turned me off so much that I almost had to say that I did not finish the book.

I decided to give it a second chance and I am glad that I did. First, I had to re-read the Amazon blurb to remind myself what I was getting into. Second, I accepted the narrator's voice as being something I would have to get past in the beginning of the book. Third, I would have to put in more effort than usual to keep track of the characters.

This turned out to be a great dystopian story about a hierarchical society named by colors of the spectrum (hence, "The Fractured Prism"). There is a requisite forbidden love story and an overarching societal uprising that pits Ivan's alligiaces to his color and attempt to overthrow the king and his love for the princess (and his role as her bodyguard).

There is a second volume to this series and I would be interested in reading it, having completed #1, although this time I would opt for the Kindle version, not the audiobook.

Thanks to StoryOrigin and the author for the review copy. I have voluntarily submitted this review.

Net Impact, the first book in the Dick Thornby series by the author is an attempt to try to be too many things to too many people. I don't think a book can be a good action/thriller and a good GameLit/LitRPG at the same time, and I'm afraid that the author tried too hard to make this happen. I think the book started well, with the protagonist breaking up an arms exchange in New Zealand, but then I get lost. We get a glimpse of his marital troubles and as the blurb says "a maze of conflict" that eventually leads Dick to the Subsidiary.

It seemed to me at this point the storyline tried to be too much and I think I found myself listening to GameLit which isn't bad, but the juvenile, 12-year-old-boy humor about male sexual organs immediately takes this book out of the class of the Da Vinci Code.

I don't think the genre mash-up worked for me, but having received an audio version, I would say the narration was very good. Thanks to the author and StoryOrigins for the review copy of this book. I am voluntarily leaving this review.

The author had offered copies of the audiobook on a Facebook group and I was lucky enough to get one. I have voluntarily left this review.

Chad is a teenager, who like many has anger management issues and because of his toxic behavior, is sentenced to full-immersion therapy for 30 days in the Isle of Mythos as a Troll. Nominally, he has to fully experience what it is like to be hated. We follow Chad through a series of adventures until he finally is defending the Trolls in the city where he has settled. Throughout, he has developed relationships and commitments to NPCs and nominally matured from the experience. At the end of the story, we learn more about Chad's relationship with his parents, which got us here in the first place and help set the stage for future volumes in the series.

I was hooked right away listening to this book. The narration was excellent and the story line was easy to follow while driving. I was immediately able to get immersed in the book and the characters, and finished the book yesterday. In my opinion, Rowland made an excellent selection of a narrator, his easy accessible style made for a pleasant experience and he had a good story to tell. All told, the audiobook production was great.

I had some trouble with some of the game mechanics. Either I lost track of or missed the "horrors" which seemed to play a prominent role, but I did't understand their action. When Chad/Chod leveled up, there were additions that I didn't understand how they were applied (I'd have to go back to the book for specifics, so forgive me). Nevertheless, it doesn't detract from a very, very entertaining experience and I look forward to Sentenced to Troll 2.

I was quite surprised by the story, as I didn't expect that it was set in the future - both the title and the cover led me to think it was more of a modern day thriller. The premise of the relationship between the two autopilot accidents and the subsequent hunt for the explanation was unique and made for a good story. The author did a nice job.

I have to say that I had real trouble with the narrator. He could not keep me engaged and I lost track of the story many times. It took great effort to keep to the plot line - in fact I had to start over again after a few chapters because I couldn't figure out how and if the gang robbery was related to the police investigation of the accidents. Obviously they weren't, and the relationship would come together later, but it was a tough was to start. Good story, challenging performance.

This short story is an introduction to Ivy Granger, a psychic detective and her partner Jinx. You are left with a good feel for what the series will be like. It is skillfully written and was the perfect length for my commute. The narrator is excellent, easy on the ears, making for a relaxing, enjoyable experience. I think the story isn't nearly as important as the experience: very well written introduction and great narration. I highly recommend this prequel and the series.
