Not Mage, Not Crafter: A Guardian Build Rises
Revisado: 03-19-25
This book is better than it appears. It portrays a world abruptly dragged into an intergalactic war, where inhabitants must endure the training grounds with scant guidance. Among those who pick combat builds, most opt for mage classes, while many others choose crafter roles. Defying the mage heavy combat trend, the protagonist goes for a fighter build, evolving into a protector like figure with abilities reminiscent of a paladin. He’s dominant in some scenarios yet exposed in others, setting the stage for compelling growth in future books.

Shallow Storytelling with Missed Potential
Revisado: 11-26-24
This has no world-building, no relationship development, and no explanation of the magic system—it’s all just implied. It’s full of repetitiveness and for book this short that’s not good. Looking at this author’s other publications, it makes sense that they’re self-published because no reputable publisher would accept this. It’s barely good enough for Royal Road. The author has a lot of work to do in developing their craft, and choosing a title that leans on the popularity of anime only makes it feel even more exploitative.

Attempts to be funny rather than being funny
Revisado: 11-13-24
This book didn't quite hit the mark for me. The humor felt forced and overplayed, often missing the natural flow of comedy. While some jokes land, they tend to be a bit childish, and the majority fall flat. It feels like it’s trying hard to be funny rather than genuinely being funny.

Historia
For despite his humble Midwest origins, Luke is no ordinary teenager. Imbued with super powers following a ritualistic exchange of blood with a dragon, Luke soon discovers the awesome legacy of his birthright and must learn to accept the fact that he is known in this other world as the Chosen One. Still, in the tradition of Marvel Comics' Stan Lee, creator of modern superheroes like Spider-Man and Silver Surfer, Lazaris's Dragonman is unquestionably human, grappling with his doubts and fears even as he sets off to save Earth from alien beings hell-bent on destruction.

Historia
Xavier Collins was sitting in class when the System integrated Earth into the Greater Universe, where countless vast kingdoms, empires, and collectives battle for domination. He didn't know what choosing to be a Champion would entail. He just liked the sound of it. But when he's teleported to the aptly-named Tower of Champions, he must face challenges against those who have known about the System since birth.

Another crybaby MC gains power while whining.
Revisado: 06-28-24
The main character seems very weak and childish, and in chaotic situations, he appears crippled by personal reflection. In this type of scenario, if you don't act without thought, you die. Clearly, the author has never won a real fight in his life, and likely never been in one. This guy talks and thinks to himself like he's a sixth grader. I'm sure the author is doing this as a way of world-building, but it's far too unrealistic to allow any enjoyment in the story.
The narration makes the main character seem like he has to use his fingers to do basic math like a child. For example, the MC thinks, "Why do I have so little left? If each spell costs 100 MP and I cast five spells, that's 500 MP. I started with 550 MP, so I should have 50 MP left, and my interface says I have 50 MP left. Damn, I'm smart. I should be able to move things with my mind because I'm a child who can't take what I have and learn to work with it. Oh, look, now the interface gives me the option to move things with my mind so if I cry a little more in my own mind, it could give me the power without the work because I'm not looking back. I don't want to complain, but I want to complain. I want everything to be easy, but I guess I shouldn't complain because I would be dead if I kept looking back. But damn, this sucks, and I suck, and I want more. Cry, cry, cry. I'm not walking backward; I just think I should have done something different, but I'm not complaining."
It's bad to the point that I couldn't take it anymore and stopped the book.
This is not even YA logic; it's very childish and has way too much introspection to keep you in the moment of the events really going on. (It gets to the point where it feels like an AI wrote it, as it gets stuck doing that a lot rather than creating dialogue.) Sometimes, you have to cut the cancer out, and he and his weak introspection and logic are cancer to the safety of the world. This MC is just another crybaby loser that gets power to make the story work without being relatable.

A Disappointing Blend
Revisado: 03-07-24
This combination was quite disappointing. The book is heavily narrative-driven, and the narrator's soothing, monotonous voice during these segments made it challenging to stay engaged – it was almost sleep-inducing. The story itself, falling under the 'slice of life' genre, lacks logic and excitement. The character's decisions are often nonsensical, contradicting the premise of him being knowledgeable about being isekai'd, yet still making foolish mistakes. The way the author introduces his 'dumb subspace skill' could have been handled more creatively. This initial setup unfortunately lays the groundwork for the rest of the story, which continues to underwhelm. While the core idea had potential, its execution was mediocre at best, reminiscent of many works on RoyalRoad. Pairing this with a narrator who brings a meditative tone, it's as if they aimed to create a fictional meditation audiobook. I managed to listen for only 1 hour and 20 minutes before I had to stop.

Progresses like a web novel
Revisado: 01-09-22
It’s like things have to be hammered home every chapter. 30% of the story is repetitive. Like a web novel where you expect that your readers forgot what you wrote the last time you had a chapter. However this is a book in your readers aren’t morons they the ability to remember.
The voice for the ghoul it’s overly annoying, and very hard on the ears. Somethings should’ve been said to the narrator in editing

Strong start, and then gets tied up at some very boring monotony
Revisado: 01-06-22
Title and description gives you the feeling that his character combination of something special. The boring leveling process and steamy mayor having his minions beat everything up is like listening to somebody describe themselves playing a game. There’s no world building to it no character development through it no understanding of what makes him special just him playing a game. I finished it in hopes that it would get better, it didn’t. I really hate to see such a strong start and idea just fizzle.

Story idea is cool, if you like this kind.
Revisado: 11-18-21
It gets so that it feels long winded do to poor editing lots of repeats... repeats.... and narrator noises. Honestly I couldn't finish and I feel like most of it would do to poor editing. Ch. 16-19 have so many repeats that I thought something was wrong with my device. How does that pass production? I don't get why it's not been noted in the reviews.

Just not as good as the first 3.
Revisado: 10-29-20
I was captured by the first 3, this one I found myself getting bored often. It felt like it was rambling to give the book some meat. It’s almost a loss that the author couldn’t come up with a better way to tie the story together and fill the book. Don’t get me wrong I’ll be in the list to pre-order the next one as well. This one was just not as fun for me. Sure it had lots of changes in the last 7/8 chapters, to help setup the next book, but the mind numbing lead-up was hard.
