Historia
When Fergus Galloway takes on a research trip to a tiny mining town in the far Western Australian outback, he’s as far from Sydney as he can get. Which is entirely the point....

More Hooka please
Revisado: 06-05-22
Loved this story even if it is a little contrived. Wish it had been longer and maybe have some angst filled situations involving a snake or two. Regardless, the best parts involved Hooka, the cocky. Listen to the story, you won’t be disappointed unless you dislike the use of crude language. The play date involving Fergus and Hooka was hilarious…….as were the reasons behind some of the nicknames….

Historia
James Sommers returned from the war with his nerves in tatters. All he wants is to retreat to the quiet village of his childhood and enjoy the boring, predictable life of a country doctor. The last thing in the world he needs is a handsome stranger who seems to be mixed up with the first violent death the village has seen in years. It certainly doesn't help that this stranger is the first person James has wanted to touch since before the war.

Good story, narration a bit off
Revisado: 02-16-20
Thoroughly enjoyed listening to the book but Joel Leslie's pronouncing of certain words and place names was a trifle hard on the ears. That said, I hope there are more instalments.

Historia
The village of Stamford, the quintessential chocolate-box English scene, seemed an impossible dream for foster kid Toby Prentiss. Now he's found a home among the haystacks and village fairs as the general manager for the Duck and Drake Hotel. With the fears and demons from his youth hidden away in this bucolic oasis, he's very protective of who he lets in. Until he stumbles across shirtless carpenter Rain Engel building the hotel's new custom-designed bar.

Story OK, Preformer was varied
Revisado: 06-17-15
What made the experience of listening to Waiting for Rain the most enjoyable?
It was a OK story. A bit predictable, but the characters were interesting and kept the story moving along.
What other book might you compare Waiting for Rain to and why?
A good story, but not exceptional. Could be compared with many other books.
Have you listened to any of Matthew Lloyd Davies’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Matthew Lloyd Davies is usually very good. Most of his accents were fine (especially Lucas) however Rain's accent (supposedly influenced by some South African background) was comical. I couldn't believe it when I first heard it but it does sort of grow on you (in a 'put up with it to hear the story' kind of way).
Who was the most memorable character of Waiting for Rain and why?
Most of the characters (esp. Toby and Lucas). Rain's character spoiled by weird accent.
Any additional comments?
If Rain had been voiced differently, I would have given a better review.
