Historia
When Lenina and Bernard visit a savage reservation, we experience how Utopia can destroy humanity. Cloning, feel-good drugs, anti-aging programs, and total social control through politics, programming, and media: has Aldous Huxley accurately predicted our future? With a storyteller's genius, he weaves these ethical controversies in a compelling narrative that dawns in the year 632 A.F. (After Ford, the deity). When Lenina and Bernard visit a savage reservation, we experience how Utopia can destroy humanity.

Historia
A gifted storyteller and spiritual director, Father James Martin, SJ, invites listeners to experience the stories of the Gospels in a completely new, vivid, and exciting way to gain a deeper understanding of Jesus. Moving sequentially through the Gospels, considering not only familiar passages but also the "hidden life" of Jesus, the book offers a bold retelling of the life of Christ, faithful to the Christian tradition, while meditating on parts of the narrative that have often escaped notice.

great book to help better understand Jesus
Revisado: 06-13-22
Whether you're a new believer or someone who's been around the church for a long time, Father Martin brings Jesus to a human level that I'd never considered before. It really helped me connect to my Savior in a meaningful way.

Historia
In this vivid and compelling narrative, the Seven Years' War - long seen as a mere backdrop to the American Revolution - takes on a whole new significance. Relating the history of the war as it developed, Anderson shows how the complex array of forces brought into conflict helped both to create Britain's empire and to sow the seeds of its eventual dissolution. Beginning with a skirmish in the Pennsylvania backcountry involving an inexperienced George Washington, the Iroquois chief Tanaghrisson, and the ill-fated French emissary Jumonville, Anderson reveals a chain of events that would lead to world conflagration.

Absolutely loved it!

The performer read the book in just the right way to bring color to the narrative form. I thought the structure was clear, info was presented interestingly, and I thoroughly enjoyed it! I also happened to watch The Last of The Mohicans not knowing that movie was based on the events in the book! I was so thrilled that all the info about Fort William Henry was accurate! anyways read the book, then watch the movie!

The Peloponnesian War has begun. An army of merciless Spartan invaders have arrived at the gates of Plataea, bent on obliterating the city and its inhabitants. Plataea's oldest allies, the Athenians, are spread too thin in their own campaigns to send help. Cut off and alone, the Plataeans dig in behind their high walls for the coming siege, while the ruthless Spartans gather outside. Not really worth it.

too much unnecessary sexualization. the first one had a better story. I don't even care to read about a male to female encounter but this second book had way more gay sodomy. this book is just a lit porno for gay guys. there's a fine line with sexual abuse on it and this book got volleyball spiked over it. absolutely awful. I couldn't even finish the book because of how sexual it turned into. disgusting.

kind of a let down
Revisado: 08-03-21
I thoroughly enjoyed the series 1-3, the historical accuracy, the characters, the action, and the continuity of the story. Even the books 4 and 5 were great. But the final book left so many loose ends it was hard to enjoy. The narration by Stefan Rudnecki was fantastic throughout. With that said the final book was still a good listen/read. it gave a nice back story to Ballista. I just hope Harry Sidebottom has more in store

Historia
Here is one of the best historical novels ever written. Lame, stammering Claudius, once a major embarrassment to the imperial family and now emperor of Rome, writes an eyewitness account of the reign of the first four Caesars: the noble Augustus and his cunning wife, Livia; the reptilian Tiberius; the monstrous Caligula; and finally old Claudius himself. Filled with poisonings, betrayal, and shocking excesses, I Claudius is history that rivals the most exciting contemporary fiction.

absolutely fantastic
Revisado: 06-14-21
I've never left a review even though I'm an avid audio book listener. This is by far and away my favorite book. Such an awesome to tell history, and as far as I know, very accurate. I would highly recommend this version as the narrator almost seems like an elderly Claudius himself. No offense to him. Claudius definitely belongs in the top ten emporers. I'd give him a strong number 6 or 7. amazing book. fantastic narration.
