While the narrator is amazing at voicing characters to the point that you recognize who's talking, female voices are off the mark. None of the characters are one-dimensional and they have grown realistically throughout the story across the four installments. Thoroughly enjoyable and entertaining, the books have a strong re-readability rating from me. Be careful to catch all the details or else you can miss references later in the plot, hence my knowledge of the ability to re-read or re-listen to the book!

Very funny, very realistic. At first glance, I thought the title was a play on "Rockaway Beach"by the Ramones. I saw the reviews saying it was LOL funny but my sense of humor isn't typical nor mainstream. I'm pleased to say this book exceeded my expectations yet delivered a realistic scenario during the serious times.
Also, this author didn't make nuns out to be condescending, inhuman and disapproving shriveled-up prunes. I like the balance of piety and pragmatic interactions with the world outside. No Catholic bashing!
I don't write reviews for most books, that should tell you that this is definitely a must get listen IMHO (in my humble opinion).

I like the plot, character focus of each book; let alone the dynamic within Keystone and the personalities it shelters.
This book gives us peaks into characters who've been bit players, scenery or delivering portentous information and cryptic advice. The foreshadowing is getting a touch annoying at times, it's assumed that there will be something from Pawn of the Dead that becomes the plot's path, there is the Cyrus angle, all the Vampire identity chaos in a rare mixed breed, etc. When you look at the bullet points, it appears pretty formulaic. Has anyone learned to have a sensar (sensor gifted breed) check things out before allowing team members to grab something dangerous?
This is the latest in the series and you can't jump in anywhere! Start from the beginning, and you'll feel like you're starting from the beginning again in a few books into it.
All of the patterns are there, but the stories are new and fast paced, character-focused and has the theme about a choice for a shorter lived person is easier because the consequences can be delayed or nearly catastrophic.
Today's real world needs to hear that choices have consequences, and those consequences can be good, bad, or both. Consequences are teachers and it is evident in the coalescing of the team into a truly cohesive unit. People change and outgrow decisions, like 70s avocado colored appliances with deep shag carpeting in orange.
I'm seriously hoping the next book(s?) is arriving soon. Slight cliffhanger....
Narration was excellent. Wonder if Hunter's voice is being saved for later development. Not every narrator can do a child's voice without making it sound like a caricature.
If you had a choice of what breed to become, what would you choose?

I think that Aly Martinez is an underrated author. I constantly search to find new work from her because she writes real stories without the characters becoming caricatures, where the good guys are too good and the bad guys are all evil.
She doesn't write easy stories, she writes stories you have to listen to carefully because of her attention to detail and the shades of grey that make up a person's existence. She's an automatic purchase for me, she brings stories to life realistically and entertainingly.

This was a master class in how to put together sex scenes, intimate scenes, and realistic interaction between protagonists as well as antagonists.
I've never written an intimate scene before and I like how Diana handles them in her work, so this was an unexpected treat to listen to and learn about the approach she uses.
Writing is an art and it's always best to learn from someone you respect and who is wildly successful.

I would have enjoyed the youngling's story more if the kids'dialog didn't sound like Jar Jar Binks. Having raised 4 boys, the dialog was unrealistic and distracting.
Still, I happily own most of S.E. Smith's audio books and a lot of her ebooks. I enjoy her writing, usually, and her attention to detail really helps you to feel like you're a part of her story.
David Brenin does an excellent job, as usual.
I still would recommend this book to fans of this author, but for new fans...this is not the best example of her capabilities as a writer. She usually has strong dialog from realistic characters.

An analytical human gets a crash course in the sudden revelation of paranormal beings. Her best friend, who should be more supportive deserts her, her one night stand doesn't pursue her and everyone's surprised when she hesitates.
Then, she gets the brunt of everyone's ire due to her lack of decisive action, regardless of the fact no one gives her any information nor do they show any empathy towards her dilemma.

Yes, she appears wishy washy and ignored her intuition, but gee.... three days to decide your life based on one night with a stranger who's stranger than she expected?

The story spent more time on the sex than anything, and there were details that got mixed up or thrown in later. Attention to detail would have helped this novella, as would have more plot exposition. An epilogue would have helped round out how this relationship would actually work out long term.
Gregory Salinas has an excellent voice but needs to work out flow and pronunciation.

Repetitive terminology, incomplete characters and one of those books you finish just to get it over with.
I didn't get the sense of a lot of depth or interest in the characters by the author.

This is a compilation of three novellas. I wish they had trimmed the end credits off until the last chapter!
This would have been a great full length novel. It had well thought out action, mystery and attraction between two people who started as strangers. It wasn't just lust, they genuinely liked each other and saw a better future if the other one was in it.
Having a longer view of the characters and would have made this a wonderful book, the story contained so much courage, detail and imagination that it rivaled a thriller/suspense novel. The sex wasn't gratuitous nor terribly graphic. It made the connection between these two more real.
This book was provided to me for free for reviewing purposes by the author.

I almost didn't buy this book because of the implications of the title. I took a risk and was rewarded with a story of a woman with extraordinary gifts hunted by fanatics on her own world.
Her father sacrificed everything to help her achieve possible freedom from those who hunted those with unusual abilities. Quinn took the risk and was rewarded. She ended up on a planet where they could help her integrate her gifts and even improve them, giving her a chance to save lives. Her husband was emotionally distant and needed to learn to integrate his feelings and accept them and the inevitable vulnerability they bring.
The fanatical group that hunted her on Earth has infiltrated the alien worlds with assassins. Quinn has an epiphany and realizes that they have exactly as much power as she allows them to have in her life and future.
