For the love of therapy
Revisado: 03-01-24
This author has a beautiful way of explaining the ins and outs of therapy as a whole and the inner workings from session to session. It helps you to gain an understanding of the personal person each therapist and client is. Of our collective humanness. And how we all need somebody to talk with. Somebody with therapist skills.

Not a fan of the narration
Revisado: 02-05-24
The narrator had a almost stern sound to him. Not a fan. Made it difficult to listen to.
The book itself had some helpful and useful information to help a beginning couple. However I was not a fan of the “do this” and “don’t do that” messages. Created more of a black and white picture of a relationship when relationships are anything but.

Historia
Have you ever wondered "Why did I do that?" or "Why can't I just control my behavior?" Others may judge our reactions and think, "What's wrong with that person?" When questioning our emotions, it's easy to place the blame on ourselves; holding ourselves and those around us to an impossible standard. It's time we started asking a different question. Through deeply personal conversations, Oprah Winfrey and renowned brain and trauma expert Dr. Bruce Perry offer a groundbreaking and profound shift from asking “What’s wrong with you?” to “What happened to you?”

And well it’s an interesting listen, but nothing compared to her other works. I won’t ever pick up and read this again. However I’d read and I suggest over and over her book Never Broken.

Historia
As “Mormon royalty” within the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Martha Beck was raised in a home frequented by the Church’s high elders—known as the apostles—and her existence was framed by their strict code of conduct. Wearing her sacred garments, she married in a secret temple ceremony—but only after two Mormon leaders ascertained that her “past contained no flirtation with serious sins, such as committing murder or drinking coffee.” She went to church faithfully with the other brothers and sisters of her ward.

Historia
What is autism: a lifelong disability or a naturally occurring form of cognitive difference akin to certain forms of genius? In truth, it is both of these things and more - and the future of our society depends on our understanding it. Wired reporter Steve Silberman unearths the secret history of autism, long suppressed by the same clinicians who became famous for discovering it, and finds surprising answers to the crucial question of why the number of diagnoses has soared in recent years.

Revisado: 07-12-23
I found the author to go on and on and on and that in itself made it a little confusing at times. However, I am grateful I forced myself to finish listening to the book, even if at times I pumped up the volume to x2. I understand the history and overall autism better.
