Historia
Erebus Resort, occupying a magnificent, hundred-thousand acre valley deep in the Colorado Rockies, offers guests the experience of viewing woolly mammoths, Irish Elk, and giant ground sloths in their native habitat, brought back from extinction through the magic of genetic manipulation. When a billionaire's son and his new wife are kidnapped and murdered in the Erebus back country by what is assumed to be a gang of eco-terrorists, Colorado Bureau of Investigation Agent Frances Cash partners with county sheriff James Colcord to track down the perpetrators.

Formulaic and a bit Tired
Revisado: 05-03-24
Pretty much the typical adventure yarn with high tech combined with evil rich guys funding nefarious research, and tough and determined law enforcement in peril. There is the self indulgent actor and obsessed director as a side story.
All the bad guys get theirs in the end. Overall pretty derivative of the authors own work and most books of similar ilk. Jurassic park with mammoths.
It is pretty well written, not enough "science" to bog it down and moves fast. It is entertaining but leaves no impact once completed. Could have done a lot more with the megafauna but that's pretty much a vehicle for the "monsters" created by the mad scientists and billionaires.

Wild Fantasy Epic with Lovecraftian Undertones
Revisado: 01-20-21
I enjoyed this book. It is quite long, but it held my attention throughout. Its a little bit science fiction, a lot of fantasy along with a good dose of creeping horror from the stars. It starts off with an almost Stephen King's "The Body" feel and soon you are not in Castle Rock anymore. It is a wild ride with dragons, cultural references, Las Vegas, mutations of all sorts and ends up fairly wrapped up with room for a sequel.
Very well narrated by Michael Brusasco. He does a good job voicing a variety of characters both human and non.

Decent Bleak Zombie Story
Revisado: 11-06-20
This Rotten World is a pretty good effort. A pretty long effort too. It seems to go on forever with a relentless, bleakness.
This isn't a kind or gentle zombie story. Most are not but this one kills off the characters with abandon.
It takes place in Portland, OR. Pretty much already populated by zombies, but I digress. I didn't really get a Portland vibe from the story. While locations and streets are mentioned, they seem randomly inserted and a Portland native can't really get a good handle on where things are happening. This could have been played up to more effect.
T.L. Howell does a good job of narrating a very long trek through blood, guts and the dead.

Historia
It was hailed as the answer to the obesity epidemic; a pill that allows you to eat anything you like and still lose weight. Millions were attracted by the promise of a leaner, fitter body, but there was a fatal and unforeseen flaw in this new panacea. A tiny microbe, lurking within, slowly infects the users. In turn they pass the infection to others with a sneeze, a cough or a simple kiss, and before long tens of millions are infected and turned into mindless, shambling wrecks, with the sole purpose of existing to eat.

Another Good Zombie Epic
Revisado: 10-13-20
Yes this is another zombie book. Yes it has many of the usual tropes, the tortured main character, the drug gone wild, and the struggle to survive. However this one is better then average. Characters come and go and the author isn't afraid to sacrifice them for the good of the story.
Well narrated by Neill Thorne.

Starts Slow with Some Improvement
Revisado: 10-13-20
Maybe it is the British factor, but I had a hard time relating to the characters in the book. The main character seems to worry a lot and be somewhat detached from the real events going on around him. There is almost too much going on with the power plant issues, outbreak of some kind and the main characters running around with no clear plan. Even when they meet up with government scientists, their actions seem unfocused and alternate between suspicious and trusting. The overall book is a bit choppy and erratic, but you can follow the plot.

Historia
For generations, a sentient AI watched over the world, solving all of humanity’s problems. It was an era of objectivity, social equality, and ecological recovery. It should have been a golden age. Now, three strangers are on a pilgrimage through the arid, lonely sagelands and underpopulated cities of the Systemic era to the seemingly innocuous town of Prower. There, they'll uncover the secrets that lay buried beneath the town and learn the truth about their half-remembered pasts. In the end, they'll choose between their sanity or solving humanity’s final, most intractable problem.

Thought Provoking AI
Revisado: 08-03-20
This one starts slow as others have noted. There are a lot of moving parts, so give yourself time to settle in and get the flow down. There are several main characters and you need to keep track of motivations and goals as you figure out the background story. The author deals well with the concept of a AI controlled humanity and how the lack of purpose impacts us collectively and individually. Well narrated by Dave Cruse. Interesting Premise Unrealistic Delivery
Revisado: 06-25-20
Nice try with a far fetched story line, but it doesn't hold together. Additionally the characters don't act consistently with their portrayal, and many interactions between characters are unrealistic.
It could have been so much better.
The narration while decent, is riddled with unedited mistakes.
