What would have made Extreme Ownership better?
A mystery why the high reviews. I could not finish it. For example, author talks about how a particular aspect of SEAL ops leadership would take a whole book. Then he tells you again. And then a third time - just to make sure you got it. In the meantime he has said nothing useful or new. Maybe the book gets better later - it lost me early on.
Would you recommend Extreme Ownership to your friends? Why or why not?
Nope
Did the narration match the pace of the story?
The hoarse "bad ass" voice does nothing for me if the content is not up to par.
Any additional comments?
No - just skip it.

Historia
Stirringly evocative, thought provoking, and often jaw dropping, The Operator ranges across SEAL Team Operator Robert O'Neill's awe-inspiring 400-mission career that included his involvement in attempts to rescue "Lone Survivor" Marcus Luttrell and abducted-by-Somali-pirates Captain Richard Phillips and culminated in those famous three shots that dispatched the world's most wanted terrorist, Osama bin Laden.

Great Story - Excellent Listen
Revisado: 05-10-17
What did you love best about The Operator?
The details about missions like the captain Phillips rescue and the Osama kill. Getting the more realistic take on how those events unfolded.
What other book might you compare The Operator to and why?
No Easy Day comes to mind, but this one is a much better read by comparison.
Have you listened to any of Robert O'Neill’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Not sure he is a professional book reader :-) but I am sure he could pull it off if he wanted to.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes.
Any additional comments?
This is one of those books that leaves you confident that it was a well-spent listening credit. It also makes you think about how we treat our vets post service.

Historia
In this award-winning Audible Studios production, Trevor Noah tells his wild coming-of-age tale during the twilight of apartheid in South Africa. It’s a story that begins with his mother throwing him from a moving van to save him from a potentially fatal dispute with gangsters, then follows the budding comedian’s path to self-discovery through episodes both poignant and comical.

Great story, well told
Revisado: 01-10-17
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes - absolutely. I was not expecting this book to be this good and useful. My thinking was "here's another celebrity trying to be a writer too". I remember studying apartheid in the 70s while attending a social studies class in 8th grade. I recall the passion of the teacher, trying to help us understand what and how wrong Apartheid was. Well, this book did that and more. Great story - paints an interesting picture of Trevor Noah growing up as a colored kid in SA in the 90s and forward.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Born a Crime?
Any additional comments?
This book left me thinking about the power of miracles... Trevor's mom is a miracle.

Did not expect it to be this good
Revisado: 07-10-15
Would you consider the audio edition of Stories I Only Tell My Friends to be better than the print version?
I think so. The fact that Rob Lowe himself read it helps a lot.
What did you like best about this story?
I never imagined Rob Lowe would have that interesting a story to tell, I am ashamed to write. The book changed my perception of him. I now feel like I know him, his wife, his Mom and Dads, Martin Sheen, Charlie and Emilio, etc. a bit better.
Have you listened to any of Rob Lowe’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
No.

Historia
When you're the best at what you do, it's not always easy to walk away. Nathan McBride was retired. The trained Marine sniper and covert CIA operative had put the violence of his former life behind him. But not anymore. A deep-cover FBI agent has disappeared along with one ton of powerful Semtex explosive, enough to unleash a disaster of international proportions. The U.S. government has no choice but to coax Nathan out of retirement.

oops
Revisado: 03-25-12
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
This purchase was a mistake. There is no relationship between what this author does and what Vince Flynn is able to do. The reader's voice is irritating - he needs to find a different line of work. Every time I heard
What could Andrew Peterson have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
The writing needs work to be more realistic/believable and entertaining. And the Harvey/McBride relationship borders on suspicious. What is up with that? Tone it down a bit.
How could the performance have been better?
His voice is not for me - sorry.
What character would you cut from First to Kill?
What was the purpose of Bruce?
Any additional comments?
Meh.

Historia
Before Liz Lemon, before Weekend Update, before Sarah Palin, Tina Fey was just a young girl with a dream: A recurring stress dream that she was being chased through a local airport by her middle-school gym teacher. She also had a dream that one day she would be a comedian on TV. She has seen both these dreams come true. At last, Tina Fey's story can be told. From her youthful days as a vicious nerd to her tour of duty on Saturday Night Live. Tina Fey reveals all, and proves what we've always suspected: You're no one until someone calls you bossy.

I could listen to this woman for ten more hours - she is funny and witty. So my only complaint is that the book is only 5 hours. I guess I can just listen to it again. The fact that she was able to get permission from SNL to include audio from the show in the book is great - loved that.

Historia
Here is a tour de force of American politics from one of journalism's most acclaimed commentators. History turns on a dime. A missed meeting, a different choice of words, and the outcome changes dramatically. Nowhere is this truer than in American politics, and in three dramatic narratives based on memoirs, histories, oral histories, fresh reporting with journalists and key participants, and Jeff Greenfield's own knowledge of the principal players, he shows just how extraordinary those changes would have been.

Goes bad one third through...
Revisado: 05-12-11
First section is almost worth buying the book for. After that the author got carried away simulating what would have happened if Robert Kennedy had not been killed. It goes on for way too long. The author seems to think highly of the Kennedy's and gets progressively more generous in inventing a different future that could have been with Bobby becoming Prez. Not planing to buy from this author again.
