Historia
The company of the Ring is torn asunder. Frodo and Sam continue their journey alone down the great River Anduin - alone, that is, save for the mysterious creeping figure that follows wherever they go. This continues the classic tale begun in The Fellowship of the Ring, which reaches its awesome climax in The Return of the King.

Serkis is a treasure
Revisado: 12-13-24
I realized that nobody else could have read these books as well as Andy because he can do every character’s voice, but nobody else can perform Gollum like him. Hearing Gollum come to life from this pages was an emotional rush that I was not expecting, and the performance is perfection.

Historia
In a sleepy village in the Shire, a young hobbit is entrusted with an immense task. He must make a perilous journey across Middle-earth to the Cracks of Doom, there to destroy the Ruling Ring of Power - the only thing that prevents the Dark Lord Sauron’s evil dominion. Historia
Roshar is a world of stone and storms. Uncanny tempests of incredible power sweep across the rocky terrain so frequently that they have shaped ecology and civilization alike. Animals hide in shells, trees pull in branches, and grass retracts into the soilless ground. Cities are built only where the topography offers shelter. It has been centuries since the fall of the 10 consecrated orders known as the Knights Radiant, but their Shardblades and Shardplate remain: mystical swords and suits of armor.

One of the best books I’ve ever read.
Revisado: 12-07-23
I just finished listening to this book for the second time. It’s been about 5 years since I first enjoyed it. I remember it being excellent, but listening to it again simply reiterated what a masterful storyteller Brandon Sanderson is. He’s the absolute best in the fantasy genre, and these books will certainly stand out as his greatest achievement. Do not hesitate to buy as you’ll seldom find a better value than is held in these pages.

Historia
The White Lich has conquered Tanar Atain. Soon, he means to take the entire world. Dante suspects his next target will be Bressel, where the Tanarians have established their court in exile. The only chance to stop the lich will be to forge a fragile alliance between the bitter enemies of three different lands: Tanar Atain, Mallon, and Narashtovik. The city stands on the brink of rebellion. Yet even if Dante, Blays, and Gladdic can unite it, they still might not have the strength to stand against the army of the lich.

Revisado: 06-30-23
Each book is as full of adventure, action, and banter as you could ask for. At this point, it just feels like this series is always a safe bet. It’s also nice that the heroes never have an easy time with anything. It keeps the story going and the stakes high!

Historia
After a year of fighting across three different lands, Dante and Blays have finally brought Gladdic to justice - and in the process, they've unleashed a horror beyond all reckoning. The enemy is known as the White Lich. He is ancient. He is immensely powerful. And Gladdic believes he will soon enslave all of Tanar Atain. Their only chance to defeat him is to strike fast, before the lich has regained his power. But attacking him directly would be suicide.

Consistent for Robertson. Gladdic is good now?
Revisado: 06-19-23
This book is pretty much in line with the other offerings from the author. I’m just here to say that I’m still not over the war atrocities committed by Gladdic several books ago. Are we just letting that go? What’s up with that?

Revisado: 11-29-22
Loved the characters. The plot moves at a great pace, keeping this one fun and engaging throughout. The world building knows it’s a hodgepodge of lots of different fantasy elements and doesn’t bother to try an put structure or limitations on it. That’s not what this story is about. Did I mention how great the characters are? This is a fantastic time. Enjoy.

Not the most riveting Reacher book
Revisado: 02-18-22
Reacher is always a fun read, but this one plodded along a little slowly. I suppose if you really enjoy a slower burn thriller, this is probably not a problem. I don’t feel that Dick Hill was the right voice for Jack Reacher books. He does a fine job in his own right, but his voice isn’t right for the character or the energy of the stories. If your just churning through the series, you won’t be too bothered by the book on the whole. It does connect to previous books through Jack’s brother, so that’s probably of interest to the full series reader.

On the world called Hyperion, beyond the law of the Hegemony of Man, there waits the creature called the Shrike. There are those who worship it. There are those who fear it. And there are those who have vowed to destroy it. In the Valley of the Time Tombs, where huge, brooding structures move backward through time, the Shrike waits for them all.

Interesting, not captivating
Revisado: 01-11-22
I had heard a lot of hype around Hyperion, so I was starting to get a little confused when I was most of the way through and still not enjoying it. I think my issue with this book are mostly centered around the structure. We take long breaks from the central narrative to tell these stories which are relevant to the story and interesting, but they don’t feel like they build to any kind of climax. As a result, the story just kind of fizzles in the end.
Speaking of the ending, it’s just a disappointment. The mystery set up by the book is just not resolved. I won’t spoil anything, but I will warn readers that if you need things to be resolved, you will be disappointed here.
The writing style is overly indulgent. The references to Keats and what would be ancient literary figures for these people doesn’t make sense to me, nor does it help make the plot work. If you’re somebody who has studied and can appreciate these particular references, then you might enjoy them. However I imagine most people might just feel apathetic if they don’t know the referenced works.
The overall final final product is an interesting story. I wish it got more involved with the compelling mystery it presents instead of waxing philosophical
