Fabulous book
Revisado: 05-29-18
I have always enjoyed Jake as a reporter but I didn't know what to expect of him as an author. Fabulous surprise!
I loved his writing, narrating and the cohesiveness of the story. I would give this more stars if I could.

Historia
As a detective lieutenant with the LAPD, Peter Decker witnessed enough ugliness and chaos for a lifetime. Now, he and his devoted wife, Rina Lazarus, are ready to enjoy the quiet beauty of upstate New York, where they can be closer to their four adult children and their foster son. But working for the Greenbury Police department isn't as fulfilling as Decker hoped. While Rina has adapted beautifully to their new surroundings, Decker is underwhelmed and frustrated by his new partner, Tyler McAdams, a former Harvard student and young buck with a bad 'tude.

Poor Narration - simply Read the book instead.
Revisado: 04-05-15
I love this series and was looking forward to the next chapter in their lives. Mitch Greenberg is the true Decker/Lazarus et al, not this imposter. I had to tell myself that he was just reading the book aloud in order to listen to it.
I miss Peter/Rina and all of the characters and hope that if there is a next book, it will be narrated by Mitch Greenberg.

Historia
Throughout his years with the LAPD, Peter Decker has handled a number of tough cases and strange killers. But few of his previous assignments compare to his latest case. When Hobart Penny is found dead in his apartment, the cops think that his pet cat - an adult female tiger - attacked the reclusive elderly billionaire. But it soon becomes clear that the beast that killed the eccentric inventor is all too human.

Unusual story for the series
Revisado: 04-03-15
This was definitely a change from the usual themes of the series but I liked it.
Mitchell Greenberg makes these characters work. His voice is like being home with family. I haven't been able to listen to other narrators trying to be Decker/Lazarus et al. They ruin the book. Having said that, in order to follow the series, I find my self downloading Murder 101, knowing that I am going to have to block out the sound of a narrator who just doesn't work for me.

Poor Narration
Revisado: 03-19-15
We love this series, the characters and the Jewish aspects of the stories (when narrated by Mitchell Greenberg)
It was so difficult listening to Mr. Guidall that we have decided to skip the next book in the series so that we can get back to the real characters and their stories.

I found this book on a sale list for "first in series". I'm so glad that I did because it brought me home. The voices, the characters, the story and all the things that I missed from my youth.

Great story, really kept us thinking all of the way through. The characters were excellent. The narration was terrific. I love it when the characters are well defined by their voices and you can tell the men from the women.
