So, we are supposed to feel sorry for actual murderers who murder innocent people. I’m not talking about murdering bad people or killers. I’m talking about feel sorry for someone who killed and committed awful crimes.
And then hate every police person doing their job. Because according to this author ALL police are bad all of them

Historia
What’s a witch to do when the coven of moral and ethical standards demands she untwist a curse—but an essential spell component no longer exists? There’s only one choice: go back in time. Caught between self-exile and an Alcatraz cell, Rachel must find an Atlantean mirror to reverse the curse and prove to Cincinnati’s brand-new witch coven that, no, she does not practice illicit magic. Unfortunately, the only mirror of its kind in existence belonged to the insane demon Newt, forcing Rachel to go to the past to bargain with her for it.

Destitute and alone, with nothing left to lose, Zo heads to Divinity and discovers she is the sole beneficiary of a huge fortune and a monstrosity of a house that sits ominously at the peak of Watch Hill—but she must live in it, alone, for three years before the house, or the money, is hers.

Disappointed
Revisado: 10-05-24
I was excited that this author was writing a new series and grabbed this when it was released. It was not what I expected and I was very disappointed. There’s little story and a whole lot of endless descriptions, and inner dialogue (something I disliked in her other books).
The main character vacillates between being extremely depressed and barely able to deal with day to day from an event that happens (no spoiler)~ to the next chapter or sentence talking about wanting to f**** every man in sight. It was odd and not in a , oh she’s dealing with trauma kinda of odd. It just jumps there. I was jarring.
The whole 3/4 of the book is slow and boring. Nothing of interest or substance happens until the end and in trademark Karen Moning fashion there’s a huge cliffhanger and of course a love triangle.

Historia
My name is Mercy Thompson Hauptman, and my mate, Adam, is the werewolf who leads the Columbia Basin Pack, the pack charged with keeping the people who live and work in the Tri-Cities of Washington State safe. It’s a hard job, and it doesn’t leave much room for side quests. Which is why when I needed to travel to Montana to help my brother, I intended to go by myself.

Great chance of pace
Revisado: 06-22-24
I enjoyed this book very much. The writing style was different, a “who dunnit” with various interludes weaved in throughout the story. It is standard mercy story but so much more. There are many nuggets and foreshadowing throughout the book. It is definitely one going to be favorite

Yikes this was bad
Revisado: 03-12-24
I can’t believe his is the same author that wrote the Cruel Prince series. This book has nothing in common with it except the world it’s told. The whole 2/3 of book was so boring and even the ending was awful. The characters were not interesting the whole convoluted story was a mess and not interesting at all. Oak is boring and his power , though interesting was never expounded upon or utilized in any interesting way. Ren was interesting in the first book but in this book she is barely present and when there bogged down by Oak’s blandness and the whole boring story.
And the narrator made it sound like he was reading some whimsical fairy tale in an annoying sing song manner.

The two books in the spinoff were not good at all. This book was all over the place and convoluted like two or three different stories were written in one book. I going to drop it for now

Historia
In Daretana’s greatest mansion, a high imperial officer lies dead—killed, to all appearances, when a tree erupted from his body. Even here at the Empire’s borders, where contagions abound and the blood of the leviathans works strange magical changes, it’s a death both terrifying and impossible. Assigned to investigate is Ana Dolabra, a detective whose reputation for brilliance is matched only by her eccentricities. Rumor has it that she wears a blindfold at all times, and that she can solve impossible cases without even stepping outside the walls of her home.
