Possibly the worst ending I have ever listened to. When you listen to a book, get to know the characters. Identify with the characters. I was hoping the ending would redeem some of the middle chapters, but it only went downhill from Chapter 1.

I've listened to the entire series and this may be the best of them all. I thoroughly enjoyed this very interesting story. Lots of twists and turns that keep you ready for more. Love this series - the characters, the story, the history, and the humor. This cannot be the last of Max for 2023. What will do until the next book comes out? Definitely recommend.

Dark and depressing

I’ve already decided that when I complete the series, I will go back and reread them all - except this one. I love the historical parts, but the story line here is dark and depressing. My recommendation would be to read about the jumps and skip everything else. Not even Max’s unique sense of humor, which I thoroughly enjoy, makes this one fun.

Really one of those books that makes you want to keep on reading. A great audio book. I have listened to half dozen of Greig Beck’s books, but this was by far the best so far. Can’t wait to start his next one.
