Hey Ghouls, the ✨boys✨ are here!
Revisado: 06-23-23
Very reminiscent of the YouTube Series that started it all. I’ve been a fan of the series (and now also their new productions from Watcher), and I think this shares the goofy fun antics we know and love. If you haven’t watched the Buzzfeed Unsolved series, you’ll probably think these guys are ridiculous (they are). But it’s the classic commentary I love. Wish I also had the hard copy BUT the boys do a good job describing anything worth commenting on.

Listen.
I LOVE these books. I am enchanted by the characters and enthralled by the mysteries. They’re fun! Veronica is FUN.
But this one was a b a t t l e to get through. I feel pretty cheated by the “mystery” in this one. It lacked what’s fun about the other books: new places, clever devices, emotional tension toward Veronica’s sense of belonging. I think the next book has more potential, but fair warning with this one: you aren’t going to encounter anything that you haven’t already interacted with before.
All of that being said, I still listened to it all in about two days. The performance is great, and the story is fine, just not as spectacular as the first four installments. Maybe you’ll enjoy it more than I did! Just seemed more talk and less rule-breaking, fast-talking, hair-raising adventure.

Historia
Tuesday Mooney is a loner. She keeps to herself, begrudgingly socializes, and spends much of her time watching old Twin Peaks and X-Files DVDs. But when Vincent Pryce, Boston’s most eccentric billionaire, dies—leaving behind an epic treasure hunt through the city, with clues inspired by his hero, Edgar Allan Poe—Tuesday’s adventure finally begins.

Ghost story AND treasure hunt? Yes, please!!!
Revisado: 07-29-21
This is a great little mystery and ghost story. I love Lauren Fortgang’s narration.
The characters in the story are all fun to root for! You feel excited for them and what they might find. It was a little slow for me at the beginning, but it picked up and kept me hanging off every word. Great transitions between character POV and all in all, fun to listen to! It’s a great little mix of mess and extravagance, and it has several mysteries and stories all going on at once.
Some of it felt SO intentional—then other parts felt rushed and loose to the story. I would have liked less details in some places and more details in others, but even with that, I would strongly recommend this book to anyone who likes treasure hunts and mysteries!

Historia
One of Jane Austen’s most beloved works, Pride and Prejudice, is vividly brought to life by Academy Award nominee Rosamund Pike ( Gone Girl). In her bright and energetic performance of this British classic, she expertly captures Austen’s signature wit and tone. Her attention to detail, her literary background, and her performance in the 2005 feature film version of the novel provide the perfect foundation from which to convey the story of Elizabeth Bennet, her four sisters, and the inimitable Mr. Darcy.

Excellent book, obvious classic and for good reason!
Revisado: 08-31-20
An absolute classic. I can’t help but appreciate and admire Austen’s talent; it is flowery and descriptive, but in the very best ways. Her writing brings the characters and their situations to life. It’s better every time I get a chance to read it, and the performance in this copy especially was very well done!

All the reviews warned me that this was a pretty lame book, and I ignored them all. If you’re thinking about getting this book heed my warning: it sucked. This is the sign to find something else. Go listen to Six of Crows instead.
Honestly, wonderful performance from the reader. The writing itself was interesting but I spent a lot of the time struggling through the “relationship” of Audrey Rose and Thomas. I’m usually into YA romances, but, if you’ll pardon my French, Thomas was a real dick and should be punched in the face. Kind of a lot.
As for “strong female character” Audrey Rose, she sure was a helpless and stupid sack of “I’m just as smart and I can prove it!” throughout. It’s like Detective Right All the Time and Detective Terrible Detective went on an adventure in Victorian London. Cheerio, gov’ner.
HOWEVER the author did some incredible research and the scary parts were very eerie. Loved the story, hated the characters.
