Historia
It’s not easy making the career jump from office-supplies-store middle manager to heroic interdimensional adventurer. At least, Jason tries to be heroic, but it's hard to be good when all your powers are evil. He’ll face off against cannibals, cultists, wizards, monsters...and that’s just on the first day. He’s going to need courage, he’s going to need wit, and he’s going to need some magic powers of his own. But first, he’s going to need pants.

Don't get swayed by the naysayers
Revisado: 09-06-24
I picked up this one before actually reading reviews. When I read the negative ones I was worried it was going to be as preachy as some reviewers claim. And while the MC does get a little preachy and full of himself the other characters in the book are there to call him on it. It's written as a character flaw, I don't think it's the author getting up on his high horse the way some people perceive it. Also, I found the MC very likeable. He's a jerk sometimes but he is also kind and good-natured.
I love the magic system in this story and would actually love to play an RPG that worked this way.
I'm finished this one and am almost through book two. Next month 3 and 4 are going to be where my credits go.

Historia
When a freak accident ruins his body and his memory, Wes Malcolm loses his scholarship and his place in the world. Every treatment has failed, save one: a fully immersive VR game, designed by his late, disgraced father, that mimics the condition his body used to possess. To everyone's disbelief, his body and mind slowly improve, bit by bit, but it's still not enough. Then one night, he wakes up in a world just like the game his father designed. Here, he can grow, learn, and thrive.

This a really fun listen!
Revisado: 01-06-21
I bought this book because they sponsored The Quartering on YouTube. I never rarely engage with sponsors, but decided to give this a try because it sounded intriguing and I had my monthly books available.
Well, I'm quite impressed. First off, the narrators do a fantastic job. I really think they both are top-notch and do a great job creating distinct voices for various characters and personas throughout the story. Jessica Threet especially seems to have a great range to her performance.
Story-wise, some of the school-based stuff seems a little over-the-top, but I can let it go. The fantasy aspect manages to remain unique while still drawing from classic fantasy tropes.
I really hope that they are already recording the rest of the series!

Historia
The epic and highly anticipated conclusion to the listener-favorite series that had countless Audible listeners (and employees) hooked from the very first Bob - featuring, as always, a flawless performance from the inimitable Ray Porter. Being a sentient spaceship really should be more fun. But after spreading out through space for almost a century, Bob and his clones just can't stay out of trouble. They've created enough colonies so humanity shouldn't go extinct.

I love this series. The unexplained variation in the "Bobs" is a great twist. The narrator does an AMAZING job and the story is a nice mix of geeky stuff and character building.

Fantastic Story!
Revisado: 11-27-08
This story harkens back to the HG Wells style of classic Sci-Fi with a lighthearted spirit. The narration by the young protagonist is really fun. Highly recommended. The sequel is just as good.

Boring
Revisado: 06-28-07
I was enjoying the book for the first couple hours and after that I really had to force myself to listen to the rest. I never did finish it. I got soooo sick of the line "the truth about my family".
I really don't see why this book has been such a hit. I didn't find it that suspenseful or gripping.
