Four for One pretty good
Revisado: 03-10-25
Want a long book/series to keep you entertained? The River is a good one. There were times that I zoned out while listening (in fairness can happen with any book) but I never found myself lost. Characters had some interesting arch’s and changes. Story was interesting, but maybe slightly rushed. Worth a listen.

Historia
In 2059, two vastly different groups of people portrayed by the compelling trio of Brendan Fraser (Academy Award winner), Luke Kirby (Emmy Award winner), and Vanessa Sears (Dora Award winner) undergo cryonic suspension. While their bodies are frozen, their minds, still active and awake, are uploaded into a massive quantum computer. The first group are all astronauts, about to leave Earth on a one-way interstellar colonization mission. The second group consists of convicted murderers and volunteers who elect to serve their sentences in a virtual-reality prison.

Left me wanting more.
Revisado: 12-30-23
I liked the story and Brendan Fraziers narration, but the story was only relatively deep. A good listen but wish there was a follow up.

Historia
Long ago, a human astrophysicist, Inigo, began dreaming scenes from the life of a remarkable human being named Edeard, who lived within the Void, a self-contained microuniverse at the heart of the galaxy. There, under the beneficent gaze of mysterious godlike entities, humans possessed uncanny psychic abilities, and Edeard's were the strongest of all. Equally strong was his determination to bring justice and freedom to a world terrorized by criminal violence and corruption.

The story itself was full of twist and turns. It feels like in a lot of ways you learn what the void really is but there just so much more. Great story arch and excited for the third.

And events continue
Revisado: 03-18-19
The story goes on without a bump. The story starts out a year later (the title) and the author brings you right up to speed. You definitely become invested in these characters and hope for their survival. Starting book three.
I will say the new reader is good at making these characters come to life and will enjoy future reads by him. I do, however, prefer the reader from the first book. The harsher southern accents is the only thing that made it feel disjointed.

Historia
Already cited on the floor of Congress and discussed in the corridors of the Pentagon as a book all Americans should read, One Second After is the story of a war scenario that could become all too terrifyingly real. Based upon a real weapon - the Electro Magnetic Pulse (EMP) - which may already be in the hands of our enemies, it is a truly realistic look at the awesome power of a weapon that can destroy the entire United States.

It could happen tomorrow could t be more right. Story is riveting for its realist possibility. Performance of the reader is nice and definitely gave different inflections for each character. So happy to see it’s a trilogy.

Needs to be longer but great addition
Revisado: 03-11-17
I'm really enjoying this series. So when I can turn on and figuratively leave this world. If you're reading this review I would expect that you've already read the 4 previous books, but if you haven't please go back and read them. Otherwise most of the story will not make sense. The only downside is that I wish the story was longer… The story arcs and character development is great, I just want more. Can't wait for the next book.

The time flies by.
Revisado: 06-22-16
I'll admit I'm kind of a Peter F Hamilton fan. I was hooked when I read Pandora Star and I'm still wanting more after The Abyss Beyond Dreams. And I have probably listened to the common weather series at least 5-8 times. (With their length makes me realize how much I have to drive)
If you haven't read the void trilogy, then you need to read that first. It's not necessary to follow the story, but it does make the book more enjoyable.
Can't wait for the next book in this series.

Revisado: 12-10-15
I just have to say that this book has it all… Action, adventure, comedy, and good old science fiction. We're still on earth we just had one event that change the course of history. I felt like there was a very good balance between seriousness and comedy. While listening to the book it made me feel as if I was living in an alternative universe version of the X-Men. Wasn't expecting it and completely loving it.
