Couldn’t finish this. It was written for a 7 yo.

Good message, I will not knock that. But couldn’t finish it because it was like being read a children’s book. Nothing wrong with a 15 minute children’s book, but not one hours long.

Since birth, you were spoon-fed ideas, beliefs, and routines that program you into the same default path as everyone else. This leads to the same quality of life as everyone else. It’s no wonder why most people feel anxious, overwhelmed, and have a cloud of meaninglessness hovering over their heads at all times. Focus is the cure.

Contemplative book that helps you re-focus life
Revisado: 01-29-24
Got this on audible & its read by the author. I've been listening to it on daily walks & often have to pause the audiobook to reflect on the what's being proposed/listener/reader is asked to think about. When I first got the book I wondered if it would feel/listen the same as all the youtube videos- but the book is different and worth getting as it's all plotted out & you're taken on a journey to understand 1- why we (as an individual & society) are not focused/lacking focus/choosing not to focus 2- the benefits/reasons/why of importance OF focus and 3- what to do about it. Things I already know in a sense, yes, but the journey through the steps helps encourage the action needed to get things done. I've read/listened in chucks so I have time to digest & implement in daily life. Long story short- worth getting. Highly recommend if you're desiring creating the life you've wanted & getting out of the rat race of mediocrity.

Historia
A year and a half into our marriage, I found out my husband had been having an affair with a 19-year-old for six months. I filed for divorce and left. Two weeks later I met a man, and we fell madly in love. It was a fairy-tale romance for a month and a half, and he convinced me to join him on a romantic month-long vacation in Italy. Forty-eight hours before we were supposed to get on a plane, he told me he needed to go by himself. I was devastated. So, I had a decision to make. Either stay home and be heartbroken, or go travel Europe for a month by myself.

Definitely not for me

I wanted to like this. Saw it advertised on Tiktok a couple times and thought “hey, might be a good read”. The audio performance is 5/5. Good audio and well spoken. The story? Can’t finish. Once I got to the chapter “love” it felt like high school. This type of storyline/memoir may appeal to certain people….but continuously reading out saccharine love texts over and over again was just too much. I’m happy the author is happy! May be the perfect book for someone else. For me it was just too much, couldn’t finish it.

Deviates from message to purport political ideology.
Revisado: 10-16-21
About 3 chapters in and I just can’t listen anymore. There are some real nuggets of good info amidst all she writes BUT the political ideologies and opinions about modern day events are irrelevant. Of course it’s the author’s opinion to include whatever she wants in her book, but unfortunately I think it takes away from the message of the book to constantly take the reader out of reflection on what she’s saying to how she feels about politics and current events. I kept listening hoping it’d shift…nope. Would not recommend unless you like that sort of thing!
