anyone think that there will be a sequel?

Listening along kinda enjoying the store....and it ends. I thought that maybe I had not downloaded the full book or something. A little disappointing but I guess this is the set up for book 2, and 3....

I generally like Ray Porter as a narrator, but I did not find him to work well with this book. The conversations and narration for the situations was too casual so as to make character reactions not very believable.

Overall some entertainment value here, but for me the average rating of 4.7 is a score for a classic.

poor follow up

After enjoying Persimmon Tree I had high expectations for Fishing for Stars. Very disappointed in the story and some of the long semi-related topics of bondage and finance. This follow up provided little satisfaction in finishing the story and I actually found myself liking the main characters less and less as the story progressed. I would suggest the those who enjoyed the Persimmon Tree to leave it at that and move on to other offerings.

I did not realize that this book was science fiction or supernatural in nature. I see that other books by the author are listed this way, but not this book.
I guess that it is an OK story as long as you don't mind fantasy for the dramatic ending.
Other review state that "never saw that coming" for the ending, and now I know why....not based in reality.

Best of the series....

Like the previous books in the series this book approaches the simple life in small town America. Several storylines cross and play out in a similar way to the first two installments. No real connections to the other books but very similar feel.
The ending however for me was what made this book special. Anyone who has gone through the process in their family may revisit old emotions in a powerful, but for me, a beautiful way. Best of the series.

Almost stopped listening due to the absolutely unbelievable premise of the story. Fragile woman + evil man = soon to be a Lifetime Movie of the Week. Not sure that it was worth my credit and 8 hours of listening, but stuck it out.

Yes, lots of twists and turns....but none of them are very likely. Almost as if the author went out of her way to add the unexpected. The listen was OK but there are many better and more believable stories out there.

Look at all of the positive reviews......great story, well read, and very entertaining. "Tough guy" narration and some funny lines to go along with a good read. Get it.

I have loved this series for years, in part b/c Barr mixed in some information and history of the particular park that was the setting of each book. This time there was virtually no connection to a national park....could have been anywhere. Series just seems to be getting tired and I found myself not particularly interested in a weak and pointless storyline.

great story.....great narration....but just plain depressing. Twists and turns abound and while I was captivated for the entire book, I just found it to be depressing. Telling much more would give it away.

could not listen to....

I have only stopped a book half way only one other time, and I have listened to hundreds of audible downloads. I just could not listen to this narration. Twenty minutes of nothing with two minutes of story mixed in. Maybe I will try again in a year or two. I do suggest that if you are interested (several excellent reviews of this book), that you listen to the sample to see if the narration and pace are a good fit for you.
