I always read reviews and search out the bad to ensure I get an accurate depiction of issues within any book (credits are expensive). One particular review discussed the mothers reaction to a major issue with her child. I agree with this review that there is no way in hell a protective momma bear would respond this way, but the author did an amazing job depicting that this mother is not as aggressive or assertive as other mothers may be. The characters reaction was somewhat inline to how the character affect throughout the series was. So for me, it was not a deal breaker. Not all mothers, mother the same. I am big on strong heroines and though are main character is far from it, she is realistic and multifaceted. She's growing and making realistic strides based on her personal growth. She isn't aggressive assertive more like assertive passive. I can appreciate that. Hopefully other readers will as well.

Another winner for Anna Zaires

I am really enjoying the series so far. I am on my way now to purchase the second installment. Typical Anna-dark characters bought together... some suspense...some sex and some action with a plot you might have saw coming but there is always some twist and turns along the way.

Some people have trouble with this book having more romance... which the audience knew was going to happen. The sex scenes were not long and so what if they were not realistic, I don't read fantasy for reality. Really great book cant wait for another!

Yes it gets old that our heroine is always gripping about being old. But if you can roll your eyes and get pat those statements, you will have a really great story with interesting characters and character growth. I enjoyed this story a great deal. I simply wished after the 80th I'm soooo old comment, the author would have found another word! Otherwise great job Shannon Mayer...I'm a new fan!

Sometimes books will lead you to believe the character will get better. That the author will have the mc mature through knowledge and experience. So even though you don't care for the main character, the plot and setting gives you hope to continue the series. The series is not bad. But if you like smart strong characters with practical vulnerabilities this is not it. MC is weak and whiny with no regard to her team and as I have now listen to all 3 books; I now know these traits DO NOT IMPROVE! Books are expensive... your time is valuable... if your not ok with a weak, kind of stupid and a touch entitled character, please look elsewhere.
