This was my first Kylie Scott book that didn’t involve athletes or rock stars so I wasn’t sure what to expect , but of course, Kylie is an automatic click for me, so it was amazing. In addition to loving Lilah and Alistair, Alistair’s mom was a hoot. Add in the fabulous narration by Andi Arndt and I didn’t want it to end.

A new book from Amy Andrews is an immediate one-click for me. I love the small town of Credence, Colorado and all the stories that have taken place there. Having lived in a small town in Eastern Colorado, I can say this series captures the feel of life on the plains perfectly. In this latest book, thirtysomething Bea moves to Credence, fed up after years of following everyone else's rules and sacrificing her own chances to enjoy life in order to get ahead at her LA advertising firm. Being overlooked for a hard-earned promotion is the final straw to make her walk away and find a place where she is determined to live on her own terms. Rumors about the mysterious newcomer immediately start to fly and when she makes her first appearance at the local eatery in bunny slippers, the town’s busybody calls the police. Sexy, twenty-five-year-old officer Austin is sent to investigate and ends up helping Beatrice break out of the old restrictions and try something new—him. Austin is being drawn closer to Beatrice, but she finds herself unexpectantly pulled back into the LA scene.

This story contains all the open sexiness expected from an Amy Andrews book, while also being a sweet and funny story of a woman finding her own way. I hope the Credence series will continue. It was great to learn what some of the other residents from past books are up to now. Plus I love listening for Amy’s “Australian-isms” such as kitchen roll for paper towels and bench for kitchen counter.

I was not familiar with narrator Mia Barron, but she did a great job and I hope to hear her in future audiobooks. I plan to listen to this one again!

I received this book as a gift from the author and want to leave review in exchange, but I'm having a hard time finding a way to describe my feelings without revealing spoilers. I really enjoyed the majority of the story and loved the ending, but felt a little let down at times. I liked Bonnie, more so than Jack, but I tried to be understanding given his past experience. Overall this book reminds me of the second-hand paperbacks that were all I could afford when I first discovered the Romance Genre. I loved my Harlequins and Love Swepts and their presentations of a somewhat naive, fantasy version of love and life.

Laney Scott did a great job as narrator. This was my first time listening to her work and I would not hesitate to purchase other books she performed. She definitely added to the listening experience.

You NEED to LISTEN to this book!!! This was my first experience with Lyssa Kay Adams, but it definitely won't be my last. I LOVED everything about this book! The story is so clever and uniquely presented. In this book the couple, Gavin and Thea are already married with twin daughters, but living apart. Thea is ready to give up and move on with a divorce while Gavin desperately wants to save their marriage and realizes he is willing to do anything it takes. His friends, and baseball teammates, come to his rescue with the invitation to join their secret book club and the suggestion that he read romance novels to learn what women want. What follows is Gavin's clumsy, funny and sweet attempts to follow their advice and win back Thea. Not much of this story involves baseball, so if you're not into sports, don't let that hold you back.

The duet narration of Andrew Eiden as Gavin and Maxwell Caulfield as Benedict, the Seventh Earl of Latford (sp?), hero of the Regency romance book Gavin is assigned to read, and whom Gavin reluctantly attempts to emulate, is brilliant!!! It's like we're treated to two audiobooks in one. I can't emphasize enough how much the narration adds to this book. The author manages to tie the stories together in a way that provides relevant examples of behavior for Gavin to apply in his attempts to win back his wife. Gavin's increasingly grumpy internal conversations with Benedict are great.

When I purchased this book, I didn't realize it was the first of a series, now I can't wait for the next book. Well worth the credit.

I'm sure if I lived in Texas, Rudy Sanda's narration would have really bothered me too. I've had friends and coworkers from there and none of them talk like Boone with his extreme accent. At times, he definitely earned the comparisons to Forrest Gump, which isn't a good thing in a romantic hero. After some initial cringing, I found Boone to be a likable guy. He reminds me of the down-to-earth farmers and ranchers I've known who have no pretense and treat everyone with the same respect and honesty they expect in return. He's knows his faults and is comfortable in his skin, but decides he needs to add a little class to his life to show those people who look down on him that he's just as good as they are. Based only on her picture in a brochure, he chooses the beautiful Ivy as the woman for him and sets out to get her. His single-minded pursuit is sizzling hot and funny at the same time.

I get that Ivy is ashamed of her roots, but I wish she could have shown a little more backbone. For all that she is a fighter, striving to make a better life for her sister, she doesn't recognize her own strengths. I admire her determination to make it on her own and that she isn't afraid to work hard to see her dreams come true. Rebecca Estrella did a good job narrating Ivy.

This was my first book by Jessica Clare and, overall, I really liked it. This audiobook really drew me in and I couldn't wait to get back to it on the occasions when I had to stop and get work done. I will definitely listen to the next book in the series.

Promising new narrators!

I really liked Sunny & Max and their sweet story. There was enough heat between them to make it sexy without it just being a series of "bedroom" scenes. (Although there are times when a sizzling hot book is just what's needed!) I also enjoyed how they would tease each other and laugh. Humor is essential in a good relationship!

The nice surprise for me was the narration. Both of these narrators were new to me, but each did a really good job with expressing multiple characters. I never lost track of who was speaking. I could easily see them becoming--or at least competing with--the next Andi Arndt and Sebastion York, with experience and a little more maturity, at least for Alastair. For now, he's perfect in the New Adult genre.

My only negative is one that other reviewers have mentioned. It seems to be difficult for narrators to convey older characters without adding too much vibrato to their voice, which just makes them sound feeble, but even in this I think Yvonne & Alastair did okay. Mimi wasn't as bad as some others I've heard, or maybe she just didn't have as much dialog as some featured characters in other books who were voiced so badly that I had to return the book. I can forgive the story for portraying Max's dad and Sunny's grandmother as old considering the intended reader. When I was the age of the H & h, I thought my parents were old and my grandparents were ancient. As I grow up, the threshold for "old" and "elderly" keeps getting pushed further into the future. Recently I had an 85 year old coworker who could run rings around the rest of us and sounded nothing like Mimi. Maybe Audible needs to consider adding an age-appropriate narrator to the cast of readers.

Jana Aston is now among my favorite authors. Her books are automatic buys. Max & Lauren quickly get together in this short and sweet story after an initial meeting where she suspects he might be a perv. I love their rom-com banter. Max is a keeper! Erin Mallon does a terrific job as narrator.

I really wanted to like this book, it was my first book by Rachel Van Dyken, but I'm having too hard of a time with the narration. Normally I enjoy having both male and female narrators, but this one just isn't working for me. I don’t think the story was written with two narrators in mind; there isn’t enough gender separation in the story to warrant “his” chapters and “her” chapters. Lucas’s chapters include too much dialog with Avery and Avery’s chapters include too much dialog with Lucas, so instead of one voice for each character, you end up with Alexander Cendese’s somewhat whiny version of Avery and Lucy Rivers’ much more confident-sounding version of Avery, not to mention two versions of almost every other character, and after a while it all gets too confusing. I got to chapter 17 of 47 and decided I’m going to start over reading this on my Kindle app.

Mr. Cendese has a nice manly voice, but he is terrible with women’s voices. I really can’t stand that his way to sound female is to add a lisp to a high annoying voice. I don’t hear the lisp in his male voices, so I don’t believe it’s a natural speech impediment. I don’t know where he gets that a lisp is feminine. It comes too close to what used to be accepted as a stereotypical portrayal of a gay man and I find it offensive as a primary characterization of weakness in either gender.

Ms. Rivers has a really pleasing alto voice, but unfortunately the differences between her male and female characters aren’t distinct enough. In her conversations between Avery and Lucas, it’s sometimes hard to tell which one is talking. Given a choice, though, I would have preferred that Ms. Rivers narrate the entire book.

Despite my somewhat harsh criticisms of both narrators, I do believe that in the right context both could be very pleasing to listen to, but they need to stick to characters of their own gender or perhaps non-fiction.

I love Allie Larking

Allie Larkin has a way of pulling you into the lives of her characters and having their feelings become your feelings. My life has little to nothing in common with the characters in the book, but I soon felt like I knew Jenny’s heart and her crazy impulse to “become” Jessie seemed completely plausible. I too wanted to be embraced by Jenny's new circle of friends and agonized with her over the dread of being discovered. I couldn’t imagine how Ms. Larkin was going to resolve this mess and couldn’t wait to find out. I would have liked just a tiny bit more at the very end – maybe even one more sentence. But then, the book could have gone on for hours longer and it still wouldn't have been long enough for me. The 8-hour listen flew by too soon.

Since listening to “Stay”, Ms. Larkin’s first book, I’ve been anxiously watching and hoping for a second book. "Stay" affected me on such an emotional level that I was actually a little apprehensive to start this book, for fear it would not live up to the first one. “Why Can’t I Be You” did not let me down - except that now I'll be watching and waiting for a third book!

Julia Whelan did a great job with the reading. I never had any trouble distinguishing the various characters and the voices she gave them fit the tone of the story. Between the story and the narrator, this book was a pleasure to listen to and well worth a credit!

I'm so glad I read this book before listening to the audio version. I love Stephanie Bond's books and loved this story when I first read it. I thought it was funny and sexy and couldn't wait to try the audiobook. But the narrator's horrid attempt at a male British accent made the hero sound more like a stuffy old English butler with absolutely no sex appeal rather than a former James Bond-type agent. I'm going to go back and read the book again just to get that image/sound out of my head! Other than ruining James Donovan for me, I thought Erin Mallon did okay and I would listen to other books read by her, as long as the hero isn't British!
