Historia
This is the way the world ends...for the last time. It starts with the great red rift across the heart of the world's sole continent, spewing ash that blots out the sun. It starts with death, with a murdered son and a missing daughter. It starts with betrayal, and long dormant wounds rising up to fester. This is the Stillness, a land long familiar with catastrophe, where the power of the Earth is wielded as a weapon. And where there is no mercy.

Slow beginning, awesome story telling
Revisado: 04-10-25
I would say my only issue was the slow start. Some of the book was slow to get through and there was pacing issues. That being said, I somehow found myself more and more hooked as the story went on!
The narration was stunning, the twists engaging, and the moral greyness of the civilization and protagonists was compelling.

A Satisfying Conclusion
Revisado: 03-17-25
The ending made me so happy and sad all at once.
The story is wrapped up well in this final installment. The narration was as good as ever, injecting life and heart into every scene. I think the only reason I deducted a star is because sometimes the tensions waned which was hard in a finale-and Beta is my all time favorite book of the series.
Either way Zimny wrote a wonderful series with fun character you can route for with an ending leaving you satisfied. I’m excited for her next works!

Samantha Havardson still isn't an Apex, but that's about the only thing she's sure of anymore. Her family and her identity have splintered, and an immortal warrior named Adrestus is at fault.

Elizabeth and MT work together to make an awesome experience
Revisado: 11-19-24
MT Zimny delivers another refreshing take on the superhero genre and Elizabeth breathes LIFE into an already vibrant story with her narration. The plot kept me on my toes and was a fun combination of your favorite high school movie and Batman adventure. The only reason I took off a star for story just because it took a little bit to get me hooked but once the action started it didn’t stop!
Emotional beats hit when they needed to and the author and narrator worked together to make sure I felt the gravity of every scene. With the end leaving me wanting more, I can’t wait to finish the story with Epsilon!

Wizards, aliens, found family, and flat earth conspiracy theories?
Revisado: 06-25-24
This book was both a horror story and a warm hug. The dystopian sci-fi horror meets and hint of magic meets found family. I don’t know how this story combines action with elderly characters that are some of the most complex characters I’ve read in a while. The story of dementia and surviving at the end of the world is unique and a refreshing take on a genre that is typically young adult heavy.
I had a great time with the themes of this book. Honestly the only reason it lost a star for me was because the story was a little slow for me in places and sometimes I was confused where the plot was headed. But that was all made up by the underlying threads of a crazy world of magic and other worlds mixed with funny and artful prose and very compelling characters.
ALSO the narration is stunning if you’re listening to the audiobook.

The Narrator was extremely talented!
Revisado: 05-08-24
The narration in the audiobook was very well done with each character having their own distinct voice. The author did a wonderful job with environment descriptions and magic systems. The world was immersive, colorful, and I could picture the adventure clearly.
The story dragged on for me in some places. There were some points where I was uncertain where the story was going which made it hard to get excited for the next chapter. No spoilers but I couldn’t get behind the main romance in the story and I’m not sure if this was intentional by the author or not (because there is CERTAINLY a character she has more chemistry with).
Overall, the narration was great and the end of the story ended in a cliff hanger I could enjoy.

You want Sci-Fi? You’ll get Sci-Fi!
Revisado: 09-29-23
Leitzen flexes his Sci-Fi writing skills by throwing you into a galaxy full of novel technology, strange planets, and genetically modified humans. The voice acting was a delight to listen to and the twists and turns of the story will keep you on your feet until the end. Like I said, if you're looking for a true Sci-Fi story in every sense of the genre, look no further than Silence of the Stars.

Good universe, interesting pacing
Revisado: 02-01-23
It does a good job as a sequel: broadens the universe, delves deeper into characters, and sets up an ultimate goal for the series. I love the cast culture and the magic structure. My main quarrel with this series is the back and forth: the story is being told by a “current” Tea looking back on actions of the past. But it makes events happening in the “current” timeline have less weight. I’m more invested in the “past” story so when a major event happens in the current timeline I’m both not emotionally invested and it spoils events happening in the timeline I’m invested in. I think this story would have much more intrigue and power if told in chronological order.

Slow start but intriguing ending
Revisado: 01-18-23
A nice immersive experience. Sometimes hard to follow with time skips. The narrators can be hard to understand at some points when they emulate masculine voices.
