Compelling Heroism

I was riveted to this enthralling tale. Writing is a bit ponderous as is narrator who seems as if he's always giving the Gettysburg Address. But the story is compelling. The characters are admirable and brave. Totally enjoyed it.

Grann dug up and researched a shocking story of greed and murder. Soon to be a major motion picture. But I found the writing tedious and the narration stilted. Couldn’t wait for it to end. Worth the read, but don’t expect edge of your seat listening.

The best kind! Unforgettable. Our species has discovered chemistry, biology, geology, math and physics. Weir’s book makes me appreciate the likelihood that knowledge can be applied throughout our galaxy. A wonderfully detailed and altogether “plausible” story. Weir deserves an award and so does the terrific narrator of this tale.

Terrific story, well--narrated by several voices. Amazing slice of life novel about a time in American history when social and economic forces were at war with each other. Knowing Spokane as I do, the book had special dimension for me.
