The storyline seemed fine. Impossible to tell. I've listened to Rath's book on Trazin the Infinant and it was great. But David Seddon's "voicework" is annoying and silly. Completely ruined the entire experience. The only cartoonishly terrible voice he did well was Creed's but everything was so distracting and silly. In my future purchases I will be sure not to buy anything "narrated" (ruined) by David Seddon's pretence at, I don't know, "voice acting"? I purchased this book last year and forced myself to finish just so it was done. The planet may have broke before the guard did but my tolerance gave out a long time ago.

Just brief: The Skaven are terrible and threatening. Which is great. However the main character is whiny, useless and annoying. If the goal was to make you hate the main character and root for the bad guys mission accomplished.

I'll say the easy and positive part first. The acting and narration was great. Loved it 10/10. I liked the premise, post apocalyptic vampire fantasy is crazy fun. But the story sounds like a Twilight fan girl. The story is chalk full of the garbage tropes that made popular tween books/movies like Twilight, The Hunger Games, Divergent, The Maze Runner absolutely ridiculous. It's fair to say these types of angsty 'fantasy' books aren't aimed at folks like me but the fact that the target market actually exists is just embarrassing.

Going through and enjoy the HH series the one complaint I've had is that each book, while the store is independent, almost ignores the fact that it is a part of a larger narrative and not isolated from the other novels. Each book has gone through the basic writing formulas as it set up, build, climax and resolution. This book begins with things already happening. We get independent view of a story that isn't isolated from the previous narratives.

I've really come to enjoy the Warhammer 40k lore, universe and stories. While I enjoyed the stories in this volume there was far to many short stories. Some so short it seemed that the rest of the book was missing. A stark contrast to the first two volumes.
