Historia
Pornhub was the 10th most visited site on the Internet, often praised as a progressive champion of women. Then one day, an activist discovered a secret they had been keeping from the world for over a decade: it was infested with child sexual abuse and rape videos. Now for the first time, anti-trafficking expert and mother of two Laila Mickelwait tells the story of her battle against Pornhub’s billionaire executives and the credit card companies who helped them monetize the abuse of countless victims—some as young as three years old.

Captivating story, excellent narrative
Revisado: 09-06-24
Fascinating retelling of one person’s impact in holding a major porn website accountable for illegal content. I was familiar with the news stories about the situation but the book gives a much richer insight to the arduous process. A worthwhile read for anyone interested in human trafficking.

Historia
In Jesus Feminist, Bessey shares her spiritual journey, which ranges from growing up in a post–gender-debate home to learning about the worldwide struggles of women and the obstacles even a well-meaning church can pose. Through disarmingly intimate storytelling, she tells how she grew to understand the story of God and the vastness of his work through women.

Disappointing. DO NOT READ.
Revisado: 04-30-22
This book does not talk about anything related to feminism as it would relate to women having equal status in the church as leaders. This book has a very flowery language that encourages women to do God‘s mission in the world, but in their own rules that they already have. This is a good thing of course, but this is not what I expected from the title. She acknowledges that she does not want to engage in a debate about women’s authority in the church, which just feels like she completely misses the point of what she says she is writing about (feminism). I was so frustrated listening to this book, and it took years to finish because I hated it so much. I kept waiting for a better message in the book, but it never came. DO NOT READ if you are looking for a scripture based discussion on women’s rights to leadership in the church.

Historia
When Thomas Jefferson became president in 1801, America faced a crisis. The new nation was deeply in debt and needed its economy to grow quickly, but its merchant ships were under attack. Pirates from North Africa's Barbary coast routinely captured American sailors and held them as slaves, demanding ransom and tribute payments far beyond what the new country could afford.

Great story different delivery

Story is great. Tells much that is not common knowledge. We can draw parallels to today's engagement with the region. Reader always delivers forcefully. Takes some getting used to.
