I was exposed to IFS nearly 8 years ago after reading Lindsay Gibson’s book. I reached out to her to be my psychologist and she guided me to the ifs website which led me to find my therapist Ellen Gold. She was really helpful in teaching me that “no, this is not all of you. This is a part of you.” She would say “this is *not* your voice, this is your mother’s voice.” I’m beyond grateful and impressed by this paradigm. CBT and psychodynamic therapies were not helpful for me but IFS and EMDR simply works well for me in my personal life healing. It just works well. Thank you 🙏🏿

I read and listen to this yearly. I get something new every time. I first read this in 2017, then spoke with the author who recommended a website to me for IFS type of therapy. That led me on a fruitful mental health journey. Thank you 🙏🏿!

Thank you for sharing your experience, strength and hope with us, Jada. I enjoyed your performance along with your vulnerability. I, too, grew up in trauma and felt like you are a fellow traveler. There is hope. 🫶🏾

I have two hard copies from 13 years ago which are marked up and hi-lighted to death. Suzanne Torin narrated the book quite well that I plan to listen again before year’s end. This is a must listen and read for anyone with complex PTSD. I also highly recommend The Body Never Lies. The author has an essential role in my grieving the childhood trauma I have experienced. The trauma from ages zero through 22 have had me in flight, fight, freeze or fawn. I’m happy to be thawing the iceberg of abuse, trauma and pain from my cells by being in ongoing therapy of EMDR mixed with IFS.
Thank you for reading,

Farrah

I was captivated from the first two chapters. I plan to listen again. This was a necessary follow-up for me after reading the Body Keeps the Score. I also am a fan of the author’s book called Drama of the Gifted Child. Love this. And highly recommend.

I liked it so much that I listened twice and plan to listen again. I’ve also recommended it to loved ones. I feel more normal and I’m less judgmental about others who are not moving to my preferred pace. Thanks so much for an engaging book.

Brené really knows her research and has added her genuine humanity to the audible. It felt like I was in the audience with her because she truly knows how to engage an audience. 5 stars all around.

This is a good listen for me. Been in alanon for 3.5 years and it was a nice refresher as Mary Pearl has really good pearls of wisdom as she describes where she’s been and where she currently stands. It’s clear why she makes the rounds.
