This is an entertaining take on Sherlock Holmes, introducing a young woman (Lucy James) who believes she's his daughter. She has a mind and insticnt to match Sherlock's. As this sub-story unfolds, we also find Holmes hounded by Moriarty's brother, who plants the idea that Moriarty was Lucy's father, not Sherlock. You must listen to hear how b ot all turns out. This was a very good story with great voices by the narrator. Highly recommended as are the other books in the series.

Once again Jodi Burnett ramps up the action while continuing the love story of Caitlyn, a U. S. Deputy Marshall, and Cole, a Deputy Sheriff. Throw in action with her K-9, Renegade, and unexpected family dynamics and you have a story that moves quickly. Can't wait for the next installment! BTW, while these can be read stand alone, you'll want to read them in order so as to have a more complete picture of the characters' growth and the emerging actions.

Justice continues the story of Caitlyn Reed and her canine partner, Renegade, both deputy US Marshalls. While it is a continuation, it can be read stand alone as there's enough back story to fill in otherwise gaps. However I recommend you start at the beginning to see how Caitlyn grows, both personally and professionally. Woven throughout Justice are the back stories of Caitlyn's romance with Clay, the blossoming romance between Caitlyn's brother Reed and her best friend McKenzie, precious problems with meth dealers popping up again, her mom's plans, heartbreak and so much more. This story wraps up nicely yet there is more to come. This is a thrilling book and series, well worth your listening time.

Of all the books in the series I've listened to, this is the best so far. Caitlyn and her canine partner, Renegade, are now U.S. Deputy Marshalls. She took this move in order to further her relationship with Colt, the county sherrif (where she previously worked).
She soon gets involved in a jewel robbery case that crosses over into Colt's territory. Add in ties to a previous case, a kidnapping, horses, injuries all around and you have a suspenseful story. There will be more to come.
While these can be listened to or read as stand alone, youll benefit by taking them in order to learn how Caitlyn, Renegade, her family and Colt continue to grow.
Well done!

I enjoyed this book by Jodi Burnett. it continues Catilyn Reed's story as a now deputy sheriff with her K-9 dog, Renegade. While I did enjoy the story, the police procedures and the K-9 training details, I found Caitlyn's Maverick attitude a bit annoying for a new law enforcement agent. I suspect part of that is due how I perceived the narrator's tone of voice for Caitlyn which at times sounded child like instead of professional. That could also be attributed to the fact that, besides trying to solve a murder, Caitlyn is working for her high school sweetheart, Colt Brandon. They are working to restore trust in their relationship while navigating murders and the handsome nephew of the town doctor. Blake is visiting to see if he wants to take over his uncle's practice and develops an interest in Caitlyn. Things heat up with an attack. Renegade is instrumental in helping solve the case. The different voices by the narrator were nicely done. Do Caitlyn and Colt have a HEA? Future books, which I haven't yet read, may provide that answer, along with more excitement and more Renegade, of course.

I have mixed feelings about this book. I enjoyed the narrator. She vocal characterizations enabled me to visual the various characters. But Kaitlyn came across as very naive. Some of her actions seemed very inconsistent and borderline reckless for someone who graduated with a degree in law enforcement. Her feelings and Colt's were all over the place. Plus I could not understand why she took over calling the lawyer and why she never informed her parents at certain points in the story. Because of this, I had a difficult time relating to her. Renegade on the other hand was great. I would have liked to heard more about him and how/why Kaitlyn decided to get him.
I've read and listened to several other books by Jodi Burnett. They are great. The point of view on this one is different and perhaps that why I'm not quite as engaged. Still, I enjoy Jodi's books and will definitely read and listen to more in this series.

Jodi Burnett writes about canine law enforcement dogs and their human partners. This story centers on Logan, an FBI explosives dog handler, his four legged partner Ranger and bomb defusion expert Addison. The story takes three interwoven lines: Logan and his relationship with Ranger (clouded by a previous loss), his relationship with Addison, and their investigation of a twisted, tormented serial killer in Denver Colorado. The plot moves well. The narrator is wonderful with her voice characterizations and vocal nuances. It's a very good story but the parts with the serial killer are not for the faint of heart. Parts were very difficult to listen to. But a bonus was learning about a HEA for two characters in a previous book. I will continue this fascinating series.

This book is both engaging and frightening. It details sex trafficking of minors. The story revolves around Clay, an FBI agent assigned to a sex trafficking task force. his trained dog, Ranger, and El, a social services worker. Ranger, while a trained attack dog, shows an extreme empathy for the victims he and Clay encounter. Ranger is also instrumental in bringing Clay and El together. I enjoyed the story, but was disturbed by the sex trafficking. That was very eye opening. It leads me to want to find ways to make a difference.

I am in love with the Brindle Dragon series! Eicd is the daughter of dragon riders who know this is her destiny. She passes many trials and gains unlikely friends along the way. She bonds with a dragon that seems unlikely to attain full growth, yet possesses unique abilities. I've only listened to the first 3 books and can't wait to dive into the rest of the series. The narration is good. There seemed to be 1 or 2 inconsistencies in the story line but then again, I tend to anticipate. So I'll wait to see if these are explained. But so far - don't underestimate the newbies!

I was offered a copy of this audio book in exchange for an honest review. This is my first book by Clay Boutwell and it won't be my last. As the author and narrator, Clay was able to more accurately capture the characters feelings. The stories themselves were interesting, revolving around Carl Brooke's (the main character) memoirs of his time in the Agora Society and his dealings with the mysterious Drake whose calling card was an origami bird. The last story, dealing with death of Carl's pregnant wife and their daughter, had a different "feel" because it dealt mainly with Carl's need for revenge. I still have mixed feelings about that particular episode but otherwise I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Now to get volume one and learn more about Carl's beginnings. Well done Clay!
