Right book at the right time.
Revisado: 04-29-25
I cannot begin to explain the array of emotions I experienced over the course of the day reading this book. I feel like Kate and I met and talked for hours about what it’s really like to lose yourself, have your heart broken, and how tricky moving on really is, and it showed up in the book. But I’ve never met her. I’m having a visceral reaction to this book.

I really enjoyed listening to a book where the chapters swap between the main characters.

Historia
I’ve been in this life for fifty years, been trying to work out its riddle for forty-two, and been keeping diaries of clues to that riddle for the last thirty-five. Notes about successes and failures, joys and sorrows, things that made me marvel, and things that made me laugh out loud. How to be fair. How to have less stress. How to have fun. How to hurt people less. How to get hurt less. How to be a good man. How to have meaning in life. How to be more me. Recently, I worked up the courage to sit down with those diaries.

Historia
Kell is one of the last Travelers - magicians with a rare, coveted ability to travel between parallel universes. As such, he can choose where he lands. There's Grey London, dirty and boring, without any magic, ruled by a mad King George. Then there's Red London, where life and magic are revered, and the Maresh Dynasty presides over a flourishing empire. There's White London, ruled by whoever has murdered their way to the throne. And once upon a time, there was Black London...but no one speaks of that now.

Love the author.
Revisado: 01-17-25
I was really excited to listen to the beautiful writing I’ve come to expect from V.E. Schwab but the narrator fell flat with female character voices. They sounded like someone mocking what a female has said and the rest of the series I’ve determined I’ll have to physically read to be able to fully enjoy.

Wonderful narration
Revisado: 01-17-25
Paul does every character justice! I’ve had a really hard time listening to narration of opposing genders voicing characters and they often sound like a mockery but each character is given a distinct voice that brings Suzanne’s colorful characters to life.

This book is one that deserves to be read. I used the audiobook along with a physical copy for my first immersive reading experience. I love this authors voice and how she likes to jump through time to better reveal the story. This is my second V.E. Schwab book and I’m looking forward to reading more from her.
