Historia
Erwin Rommel remains one of the best remembered generals of World War II and history at large, despite the fact he was on the losing side, and he was defeated at the most famous battle of his career. Heinz Wilhelm Guderian was one of the most respected commanders and theoreticians of World War II. Albert Kesselring was undoubtedly a gifted commander, but one who served at a time when the German military was tainted with the evils of Nazism.

I have had enough John Corey.
Revisado: 10-23-22
I have listened to all of John Corey novels. I am not a big fan of Scott Brick but he can do John Corey. I have sometimes avoided other books because Scott Brick is the narrator. If you enjoyed the other John Corey novels I would recommend this one. If you have not listened to a John Corey novel then I would suggest any of the other John Corey novels. Also, I am fan of Nelson Demille and 'The Gold Coast' is so good that I have listened to it three times in the last fifteen years.

Loved the movie hated this audiobook.
Revisado: 11-08-21
The movie script was excellent. As with all movie scripts much has to be eliminated. What was eliminated was trash. The narration was ok but when he did certain voices like Mickey Cohen it was really annoying. When I get to a half way point in a book I always finish the book. The last five hours where torture. The plot really did sicken.
I especially thought the Walt Disney type character in the book was a really bad choice. I think pure fiction would be better than using these historical characters.

Revisado: 06-01-21
I really think Archer should stick to his side of the pond. I don't think he is able to capture American characters. I think his best book is 'Prisoner of Birth'. It is right on the edge of not believable but doesn't cross the line. This book crosses the line.

Historia
Mi-ja and Young-sook, two girls living on the Korean island of Jeju, are best friends who come from very different backgrounds. When they are old enough, they begin working in the sea with their village’s all-female diving collective, led by Young-sook’s mother. As the girls take up their positions as baby divers, they know they are beginning a life of excitement and responsibility but also danger. This beautiful, thoughtful novel illuminates a world turned upside down, one where the women are in charge, engaging in dangerous, physical work, and the men take care of the children.

Transistor radio was not available until 1954.
Revisado: 09-10-20
I did enjoy this book but the author refers several times to transistor radios starting around 1944 when Young Suk bought one for a gift. First commercial transistor radio was in 1954. I don't know why but this inaccuracy bothers me because I keep asking myself what else did the author get wrong.

Linguistics, the study of language, has a reputation for being complex and inaccessible. But here's a secret: There's a lot that's quirky and intriguing about how human language works-and much of it is downright fun to learn about. But with so many potential avenues of exploration, it can often seem daunting to try to understand it. Where does one even start?
