Historia
The Beast had Belle. Killian Black has me. How I got here doesn’t matter, even though he says it does. Says it was my choice. He doesn’t get it, though. It wasn’t ever a choice for me. And now, he’s changing the rules. The agreement was one month. For 30 days, I’d be his. He’s no longer satisfied with my body alone, though. He wants my soul, too. Wants every part of me. And even though I can pretend I’m safe when I lie beneath him, this man does something to me. Something wicked. A thing that will break me.

Why are we glorifying this treatment of women?
Revisado: 07-12-23
I began listening to this book by chance simply because it was part of the free selection offered to audible members. I immediately became uncomfortable with the language and sexual descriptions used by the author. I suppose some might say that this is because of the kidnapped mafia theme, but that doesn’t justify the vivid descriptions of sexual assault. The book has many SA triggers for those sensitive to the subject. The treatment of the female main character was horrible, and it made no sense to me how she was able to continue facing it throughout the story and even forgive it towards the end. It is one thing to help a person change, but to demean yourself by letting someone treat you badly in the process isn’t something that is conducive to a healthy relationship. Part of helping a person, especially a misguided one, is to help them make peace with their past decisions and how they have affected the people around them (loved ones). Forgiving doesn’t always mean everything can work itself out. To truly help someone change, you need to hold them accountable for their actions. The whole thing comes off as crossing the line because of how it presents the idea of consent. Just because someone has agreed to something once doesn’t mean you continue to take it again without asking, especially if the grounds for consent are shaky. The ending is also predictable because of how hard the book tries to stick to the traditional everything-works-out-in-the-end romance storyline when I thought the opposite should be the case. Abusing somebody else in any way should not be glorified to positive reviews. As a reader, I found this a bit degrading to women, especially to the female main character. I am confused as to why this has so many positive reviews. The narrators were decent. I had a hard time finishing the book. I wouldn’t recommend. :(

Historia
As a doctor, I walk a dangerously delicate balance of being compassionate but not overly invested. The same is true in my personal life - love is a luxury I can’t afford. It isn’t until Dr. Westin Grant breaks down all my walls and offers me a future, I find myself wondering if I’m brave enough to risk my heart. When who I was and who I’ve tried to become collide during my clinical trial, the fate of one patient changes everything.

Overall a Good Book :)
Revisado: 06-10-23
I genuinely enjoy Corinne’s writing style, but certain details of this plot line seem unrealistic. I don’t understand how a character as strong willed as Serenity would let one past love mess with her life considering how much she sacrificed to get to where she was. Also, I’m not sure how I feel about the ending. Serenity’s actions were VERY serious, and I don’t feel like the ending matched with the rest of the story. Overall, the performance (voice actor) was good for the delivery of the story. I enjoyed the relationship between Weston and Serenity. I would recommend to read. :)

Noble Blood SUPERFAN!!!
Revisado: 08-12-22
I have to admit that when I started listening to this podcast about a year ago, it was an accident. I simply searched up a good history podcast to listen to every night on my Alexa device. And ever since then, I have been hooked on it. I absolutely adore Dana’s perspective and breakdown of significant moments in history. Her voice is also easy to follow and listen too. I love how she calls out past ways of thinking. I know so much more about extraordinary stories throughout the centuries. Dana and the rest of the Noble Blood team thank you for this gem!
