Historia
Boston, 1662. Mary Deerfield is 24 years old. Her skin is porcelain, her eyes delft blue, and in England she might have had many suitors. But here in the New World, amid this community of saints, Mary is the second wife of Thomas Deerfield, a man as cruel as he is powerful. When Thomas, prone to drunken rage, drives a three-tined fork into the back of Mary's hand, she resolves that she must divorce him to save her life.

Whiny.
Revisado: 11-14-23
This book fell so far short. The main character is so whiny. So irritatingly whiny. She goes on and on about her grandma and her mother and uncles and aunts are going through losing their mother YET the author has painted it around the family catering to this whiny lead characters needs. It just didn’t make sense. At the end it reads she felt closer to GG from hugging her mother … DUH it’s her grandmothers daughter. It’s just really whiny and disappointing. Also another line in the book was referring to fried chicken and the smell of fried chicken hung in the air like a promise…. Like wtf.

Historia
Polly Hampton has long been groomed for the perfect marriage by her mother, the fearsome and ambitious Lady Montdore. But Polly, with her stunning good looks and impeccable connections, is bored by the monotony of her glittering debut season in London. Having just come from India, where her father served as viceroy, she claims to have hoped that society in a colder climate would be less obsessed with love affairs. The apparently aloof and indifferent Polly has a long-held secret, however, one that leads to the shattering of her mother's dreams and her own disinheritance.

WHY IS SHE WHISPERING????
Revisado: 11-14-23
Everything about this book is wonderful and I’m sure the narrator is good at what she does… but how on earth did this get passed to audible??? I can barely hear on the loudest volume and it’s so inconsistent. It’s like trying to hard and being “cute” but it comes off as irritating. Such a shame bc the book is so good. Definitely needs a re record!

Historia
As a wielder of domestic magic, Finlay Ashowan likes to keep his affairs as neat and orderly as his kitchen. But between his work for the King and Queen of Daxaria and a new (secret) relationship with Lady Annika Jenoure, his life is anything but tidy. For one thing, if Annika and Fin are to continue their romance, they’ll need to sort out the pesky issue of Fin’s being a commoner—before Annika is forced into a political marriage that interferes with her own carefully laid plans. For another, pressure is mounting as the war with Troivack draws ever closer.
