New favorite duology...
Revisado: 03-17-24
Rebecca Ross is easily becoming my new favorite author. This story had me captivated and the characters had me swooning. I blushed, I grinned, I cried... and this was only amplified by the talents responsible for the audio. The lingering romance was so intimate and there wasn't even a need for it to be smutty. The story alone will have you pining for more. There was plenty of adventure and even some fantasy. I wish there was a third book on the rise... I am only sad that the story doesn't continue after this one.

I think this may be my new favortie YA novel. The writing is beautiful, the story gripping, and characters lovable. The voice actors did a stunning job at really capturing the characters and giving them life. This story captivates you and is incredibly romantic without relying on plotless smut to grab your attention. This is the first 5/5/5 I've given since listening to books on Audible. I devoured this book and I am starting the next one as I type.

I devoured this book in a day... It was perfect. The story and charisma between the characters made up for the parts that were almost "too" cringe. Read the trigger warnings of course, but it was the right amount of gross and cute, somehow. This might be one I actually read more than once.

My favorite book I've read in a long time...
Revisado: 12-27-23
The cover is stunning. The story is pulling. The inclusion and fairytale twists just make it that much better. I really enjoyed this book, I took my time listening and got so involved with the story. I loved that it wasn't just smut and had a plot, while letting you get to know the characters before getting spicy. I love the LGBTQ+ aspects of the storyline and it was well-written overall. Definitely one of my favorites.

Honest review...
Revisado: 12-17-23
This was the best book I've read/listened to in awhile. I finished it in a day, devoured it. I thought I had the ending figured out but then the twist was even better than I'd hoped. Make sure and see it through to the very end. There are many wholesome parts to this story among the terror, thrill, trauma, and mystery. I'd love to see it made into a film and I rarely say that about a novel. Reminder that there are some triggers in this book that some should be weary of. I only wished we could have a more in depth understanding of the characters because I was so intrigued by each of them. Oh, and take a shot every time the author says "muscle memory" for a good time.

Surprisingly...
Revisado: 12-16-23
I'll be real, I almost didn't read this because of some booktok reviews saying the story was trash... but I actually loved this book. I enjoyed the story and how the author didnt fill every other page with smut motivate you to continue reading. I have a few questions about the history because there are some plot holes I'd love filled. The writing is also sometimes a bit elementary... but it didn't take away the entertainment. I'm not here to edit this authors work, I'm here to enjoy an entertaining story and this was good for that. The plot twists fell together nicely. It was easy to follow and understand... I think it has the potential to be an amazing story as it continues and I have no regrets reading it.

Who am I? I've forgotten the answer to that question long ago. Ever since I ran from that house, so desperate to escape, I left with only the clothes on my back and socks on my feet. After that day, I've only ever walked in stolen shoes.

Revisado: 12-10-23
Okay, after reading one of this author's books and being greatly disappointed in it, I decided to try another and see if it was redeeming. It wasn't. I found myself speeding up the audio to get through it. The story was so annoyingly fabricated and repetitive that I almost added it to my DNR. Then the last few chapters (literally the last 45 minutes of the audio) was pretty interesting and entertaining. However, It wasn't enough for me to recommend this to someone else. I think this author thinks that if she adds questionable spicy scenes in between the empty story, it will make things better but it doesn't. If you want some cheap smut with an unrealistic relationship between characters, it may he bearable. "Twist" at the end was predictable and there's one last spicy scene during the last few minutes of the audio that is laughable. The writing is exactly like Haunting Adeline and even the woman's character is voiced by the same actress. Same personality, same wattpad writing style... same cringe. I'm about over listening to booktok recommendations because it has proved to be disappointing.

I wanted to love this since it's basically a retold version of Aladdin. (Spicy disney? Sign me up.) But it felt cheap and empty. It's exactly what you'd expect. Modern day Jasmine is forced to wed Julian (Jafar) and he's the villian in the story, classic bad guy gets the girl... with a dragging plot and missing connection. The ending was terribly predictable, I was hoping a twist would redeem it... but it missed the mark; plus the characters were just lacking in personality in general. Voice actors are a bit awkward honestly, spicy scenes were mild even though it opens with a voyeuristic scene that makes you think it's going to be better than it is. I'm going to give this author's other books a try since I've heard good things and I bought the whole series, but this particular was just not the best read.

The Manipulator. I can manipulate the emotions of anyone who lets me. I will make you hurt, make you cry, make you laugh and sigh. But my words don't affect him. Especially not when I plead for him to leave. He's always there, watching and waiting. And I can never look away. Not when I want him to come closer. The Shadow. I didn't mean to fall in love. But now that I have, I can't stay away. I'm mesmerized by her smile, by her eyes, and the way she moves. I'll keep watching and waiting. Until I can make her mine. And once she is, I'll never let her go.

You'll either love it, or hate it.
Revisado: 12-07-23
I fed into the hype and read this dark romance. The trigger warnings are there for a reason and everyone reading should check those out first. With that being said, I expected more with the way everyone has been freaking out over this book. It was mild for me, bot jaw dropping or as crazy as I was led to believed. The spicy scenes were redeeming... I did cringe heavily a few times, but that's part of the fun. Parts of the plot make no sense- a stalker heavy on non-consensual acts- fights bad guys and takes down underground child trafficking rings? A bit contradictory, but interesting at the same time. It ended on a cliff hanger, and I was expecting more of a twist rather than the predictable ending. Some parts were lacking, some parts were right on target. Voice actors were decent. This is one of those you will either love or hate.
