Air Force pilot Captain Carlyle "Smitty" Harris was shot down over Vietnam on April 4, 1965 and taken to the infamous Hoa Lo prison—nicknamed the "Hanoi Hilton." For the next eight years, Smitty and hundreds of other American POWs—including John McCain and George "Bud" Day—suffered torture, solitary confinement, and unimaginable abuse. It was there Smitty covertly taught the Tap Code—an old, long-unused World War II method of communication—to many POWs. In turn, they taught others, and it quickly became a way for POWs to communicate without their captors' knowledge.

I am always SUPER critical of books that try to portray my beloved Corps... So, I spent 24 years in the Marines with a bunch of time in combat zones, lived all over the world and had a number of different MOS's actually and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel of Marines...so, I have the creds at least to critique. Most books...unless they were written by a Marine...about the Marine Corps...suck. We still need to teach Bray how to pronounce some of the abbreviations.. Like SSgt is Staff Sergeant, and Cpl is Corporal...but for the most part, he did pretty well. Bray, if you ever need a translation of Marine speak...HMU.
BUT FICK.... Holy hell. I had some serious LOL Moments listening to him, then I found the Fickisms compilation.
This was well researched, cannot find if Fuchs had any time in the Gun Club, but he did a pretty darn good job writing about it...so BZ for that.
Made me go find other Arisen titles since this was my first one....

ok...the strong woman knows everything got nauseating. The author must have taken his ideas from the Male us a dumbass TV commercial genre. I spent 24 years in the Marines....have yet to find a woman commensurate to his genius, firearm, tactical expert type. Not an author I will buy from again. There are enough cucks in the world already, no need to write books about them.

You would think...a narrator of military sci fi would know the correct pronunciation...but, alas... no. Tries to hard to be Marine, and having spent 24 years in the Marine Corps...core, not corpse....that I am qualified to critique.
I have to see if I paid for this...if so, want a refund, hell if I didn't pay for it I should get one.
