Historia
In the fall of 2010, Abby Norman's strong dancer's body dropped 40 pounds, and gray hairs began to sprout from her temples. She was repeatedly hospitalized in excruciating pain, but the doctors insisted it was a urinary tract infection and sent her home with antibiotics.

A must read for those who care
Revisado: 03-29-23
Abby Norman lays out the excruciating truths of her experience with medical practitioners. I’m a woman, I’ve experienced the same themes that she has. Gaslighting, disbelief… a testament on how the health system has and continues to fail AFAB people.

Historia
The Latin term for the female genitalia, pudendum, means “parts for which you should be ashamed”. Until 1651, ovaries were called female testicles. The fallopian tubes are named for a man. Named, claimed, and shamed: Welcome to the story of the female body, as penned by men. Today, a new generation of (mostly) women scientists is finally redrawing the map. With modern tools and fresh perspectives, they’re looking at the organs traditionally bound up in reproduction—the uterus, ovaries, vagina—and seeing within them a new biology of change and resilience.

Incredible!
Revisado: 03-29-23
This book has affectively changed my life. Gross is a master story teller and makes the history of AFAB peoples disparity incredibly fluid. As a woman I am outraged by so many of the themes presented here. A must read, even if you are not AFAB.

Historia
Metabolism, behavior, sleep, mood swings, the immune system, fighting, fleeing, puberty, and sex: these are just a few of the things our bodies control with hormones. Armed with a healthy dose of wit and curiosity, Randi Hutter Epstein takes us on a journey through the unusual history of these potent chemicals and their discovery, from the London laboratory where the concept of hormones was identified to a basement filled with jarred brains to a canine sex lab.

Interesting, albeit a bit dry
Revisado: 03-24-23
Very important medical history, very interesting at times. It’s a bit obvious that the Dr is indeed a doctor and not a historian- as there are parts which are quite dull but do not have to be. In all, interesting listen but don’t recommend if you don’t want to be bored at parts.
