Historia
A vast and largely unseen transformation of how war is fought as profound as the invention of gunpowder or advent of the nuclear age is occurring. Flying cars that can land like helicopters, artificial intelligence-powered drones that can fly into buildings and map their interiors, microsatellites that can see through clouds and monitor rogue missile sites—all these and more are becoming part of America’s DIU-fast-tracked arsenal. Until recently, the Pentagon was known for its uncomfortable relationship with Silicon Valley and for slow-moving processes that acted as a brake on innovation.

Cool story but not too much substance
Revisado: 12-11-24
It’s the story of Unit X and the glorification of the people involved. Interesting insights about how the US had fallen behind technologically and how it is now playing catch up and how important it is for militaries to adopt to commercial technologies that are both cheaper and involve the latest tech.

Tony Fadell led the teams that created the iPod, iPhone and Nest Learning Thermostat and learned enough in 30+ years in Silicon Valley about leadership, design, startups, Apple, Google, decision-making, mentorship, devastating failure and unbelievable success to fill an encyclopedia.

Historia
Built To Last, the defining management study of the 90s, showed how great companies triumph over time and how long-term sustained performance can be engineered into the DNA of an enterprise from the very beginning. But what about companies that are not born with great DNA? How can good companies, mediocre companies, even bad companies achieve enduring greatness?

Great read but don’t expect any silver bullets
Revisado: 11-12-22
Great insights based on actual research unlike most business books out there. While you won’t hear anything ground breaking in this audiobook, it is exactly what makes it great. It describes with data why you can’t expect any magic decisions or ground breaking ideas to make your company great. It is all about consistent discipline, fundamentals and an aggregate of good decisions over the years.

Everything someone needs to know about humanity. I have thought of all these before but the content is organized in a very good way, uses interesting examples and is well researched.
If everyone thought the same way the writer does it would be a much different world.
