Historia
Calvin Coolidge, president from 1923 to 1929, never rated highly in polls, and history has remembered the decade in which he served as an extravagant period predating the Great Depression. Now Amity Shlaes provides a fresh look at the 1920s and its elusive president, showing that the mid-1920s was in fact a triumphant period that established our modern way of life: The nation electrified, Americans drove their first cars, and the federal deficit was replaced with a surplus.

Great Presidential Biography
Revisado: 07-02-19
This book seems to bridge the gap between non fiction biography and a narrative. It's full of facts about a Great Man and President, but it feels like you're getting to know the person. highly recommend

Historia
From Charles J. Chaput, author of Living the Catholic Faith and Render unto Caesar, comes Strangers in a Strange Land, a fresh, urgent, and ultimately hopeful treatise on the state of Catholicism and Christianity in the United States. America today is different in kind, not just in degree, from the past. And this new reality is unlikely to be reversed.

Great book, important topic
Revisado: 04-25-19
This is basically a better written Benedict Option. It doesn't have as many practical examples like Dreher's book did, but I think Chaput does a better job of discussing how we've gotten here and why we need to reject the culture and live Fuller Christian lives.
The narrator was great, he did a good job conveying the tone of the message.

LOTR is easier to follow in audio
Revisado: 08-10-18
I read LOTR years ago, went although the story captured my imagination it was very long and hard to get through. I did not have that feeling listening to it, it flew by and I noticed a lot of details I missed in my first read. If you've struggled to get through the Trilogy, try these audio books and you may find them more engaging!

Historia
In the grotesque bell-ringer Quasimodo, Victor Hugo created one of the most vivid characters in classic fiction. Quasimodo's doomed love for the beautiful gypsy girl Esmeralda is an example of the traditional love theme of beauty and the beast. Yet, set against the massive background of Notre Dame de Paris and interwoven with the sacred and secular life of medieval France, it takes on a larger perspective.

Will it ever end
Revisado: 06-05-18
oh my goodness this book is long. In the beginning of the book, i loved how the author would go on long tangents describing Paris or Notre Dame. His descriptions were intense and beautiful and really helped shape the story. but it took him half the book! The main story doesn't start until around Chapter 30, and then you still have the full story to go. I am glad I read it, but this will not be high on my reread list.

Historia
In this provocative book one of the most brilliant scholars of religion today dismantles distorted religious "histories" offered up by Christopher Hitchens, Richard Dawkins, and other contemporary critics of religion and advocates of atheism. David Bentley Hart provides a bold correction of the New Atheists’s misrepresentations of the Christian past, countering their polemics with a brilliant account of Christianity and its message of human charity as the most revolutionary movement in all of Western history.

Long and detailed, but worth the time
Revisado: 01-22-18
I don't remember where I heard about this book, but I'm glad I got it. It's a long book, and at times quite dense, but that's only due to the incredible level of detail that Hart goes into. The book is not a proof of God, but rather a complete repudiation of the Atheist belief that religion, namely Christianity, is to blame for everything bad that has befallen our society; the speed of scientific "progress," the wars of Europe, slavery and many more issues that are covered.
I recommend this book if only to fully understand the brilliant points made in the last chapter. The audiobook got a bit hard to follow at times, due to the complexity of some of the arguments, but it was still a good listen. The narrator is a bit monotonous, take plenty of breaks if you listen on long drives.

Another well done Asimov Audio book
Revisado: 08-08-17
Loved the book, Asimov is so masterful. You don't need to read the Robot series before this one, but he does drop a few references to it. I liked the narrator, his accents weren't over the top, but helped distinguish the characters well.
