Historia
Victor Hugo's tale of injustice, heroism and love follows the fortunes of Jean Valjean, an escaped convict determined to put his criminal past behind him. But his attempts to become a respected member of the community are constantly put under threat: by his own conscience and by the relentless investigations of the dogged Policeman, Javert. It is not simply for himself that Valjean must stay free, however, for he has sworn to protect the baby daughter of Fantine, driven to prostitution by poverty.

nearly beyond my ability to withstand this religious zealot crap
Revisado: 09-22-24
I,”ve read this book. I love it. However I have come to a point in my life where I cannot abide this insanity and religiosity which is the downfall of all humanity. It makes me sick, but because Hugo is relating such a poignant and important cultural message, I am enduring the disgrace and disgust of this religious fervor in its context. I have to hold my breath and endure this insanity that portrays itself as an acceptable way of human existence.

Historia
Tatiana de Rosnay is the perfect candidate to write a biography of Daphne du Maurier. As an 11-year-old de Rosnay read and reread Rebecca, becoming a lifelong devotee of Du Maurier's fiction. Now de Rosnay pays homage to the writer who influenced her so deeply, following Du Maurier from a shy seven-year-old to a rebellious 16-year-old, a 20-something newlywed, and finally a cantankerous old lady.

Mispronounced Cornish towns such as Fowey and St, Austell. Annoying. Get a coach.
Revisado: 06-01-24
Just as above. If you can’t pronounce the Cornish towns names correctly, why are you narrating this?
