Much better than I expected, recommend for light hearted listening.

I decided to get this when someone posted He Who Fights with Monsters meets Beware Chicken in one of the comments. I went in with no expectations other than HWFWM is my one of my favorite series this should be alright. I was happy I picked this up! Light hearted pace, good twists, just fun to listen to. Definitely recommend for a different type of LitRPG than the norm.

Please note, there is a lot of fishing happening in this book. Just FYI… I mean, it is in the title but worth saying again… lots of fishing… and eating… and fishing

Creative Approach and Entertaining

I enjoyed this book. It’s definitely men in black remade with a twist. I don’t mind though. This book ends really well too. Even though it’s book 1 of hopefully many, it wraps up well so you don’t have to worry about starting a new series and waiting for future releases. I’m happy for this, thank you Tim!

There are aspects of the story I just had to roll with. It was the creative direction and lead into meat for the story and different flavor dynamics for the characters. I would have gone a different direction on roles and responsibilities of the company though… some aspects of surveyors just doesn’t make sense.

It’s a very linear storyline. Some folks like that, some hate it. It made it easy for me to follow and come back to without having to think hard about something.

The story had humor, emotion, and omg disgusting moments. I loved taking the journey.

Don’t take this book seriously, roll with it and you’ll have an entertaining experience.

Fun Book

If you like He Who Fights, then odds are good you’ll like this one too. It’s a fun story. Narrator can drone a bit, but character voices are on point.

I think the main story has merit. Won’t ruin it for others, so no details here. I really did like the concept.

It’s cliche writing. Cringe lines that is so far beyond realistic. Like really?! Master this and Master that. Yuck. Referring to someone by their first name instead of a you is PAINFUL to listen to. If we’re talking and I say, ‘if John thinks so’ (and you’re John) how does that sentence make any sense?!

Maybe a good book for horny teenagers with superiority problems into anime.

Not what I expected

First off, it’s a good book. It’s not what I expected. It took a couple of hours before I realized it was meant to be funny. After that I rather enjoyed it, laughing out loud in many parts.

I struggled hard to get through this

I couldn’t get behind this story line. Parts were good, others not so much. As a hole, not riveting. The ending felt a bit out of nowhere.

Audio performance: volume shifts constantly and sections are repeated (saying the same lines multiple times)

It’s not a waste of a credit, but not something I’ll listen to again.

Not My Cup of Tea

I’ve come to realize I’m not the target audience for this book. I’m a Brandon Sanderson, Brent Weeks, Robert Jordan kind of guy. So, I’m trying to take that lens off with this review.

Romance, violence, and magical mystery wrapped up in one. Theme will seem cliché, but you’ll be mistaken. Has some twists and turns. Will get you chuckling and crying at times.

I read a lot of the book reviews and was on the fence about getting this book. I found this book to be amazing. It was not boring or slow. It was entertaining and hard for me to ‘put down’.
