Charlie's maturity
Revisado: 03-01-24
Charley grows up in this story. She's come a long way. It brings the original story arc to an end. I love how the previous title fliwed right into this one.

Historia
When a local Maui resort is attacked, it’s all hands on deck to try and find the culprit. Which means Charlie is on the case, but so is Jake. And the last time they worked the same case was choppier than the North Shore waves during a storm surge. But Charlie’s got more to worry about than just solving this case. For one thing, why has her mom been acting strangely? And have the Ham brothers in Seattle gotten the message to leave her alone? Charlie could really use another drink, but she’s going to have to keep a clear head if she’s going to get to the bottom of this case.

Not every danger comes in the form of a mega-threat like a Titan. Some predators are a lot cozier...more personal. When one such creature threatens an independent tutor, Harry Dresden must shake off the blood and dirt of his most recent battles and rise to the occasion, even when it turns out that the new predator is far more dangerous and connected than first appearances would suggest.

Historia
When a prominent family's daughter flees sleepy Sussex to seek a career on the stages of a glittering West End, Harry and Kat are asked to check in on the young woman. But the two of them soon discover that there is a much bigger danger to the woman and her family than mere acting dreams being crushed. Nathaniel Parker, born in 1962, graduated from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art and went on to join the Royal Shakespeare Company. His television career began in 1988 when he played Flying Officer 'Flash' Gordon in the LWT mini-series "Piece of Cake".

Historia
There isn't much fun in the sun when a billionaire real estate tycoon is found murdered on the Tilt-a-Whirl at a seedy seaside amusement park in the otherwise quiet summer tourist town of Sea Haven. John Ceepak, a former MP just back from Iraq, has just joined the Sea Haven police department. The job offer came from an old Army buddy who hoped to give Ceepak at least a summer's worth of rest and relaxation to help him forget the horrors of war. Instead, Ceepak will head up the murder investigation.

This is not a kid's book.
Revisado: 12-12-20
If you are a fan of Chris Grabbenstein's children's series, this is not one of those.
If you want an unexpected mystery with adult themes and don't mind the F word used frequently, then do listen. The cursing was a problem for me but the writing and complexity of the characters and mystery were excellent.

The narrator is American, no British accent. There is loud music in the background to set mood. The narrator is slow and dull. What a waste for one of my favorite authors.

Sharing lodging in the sleepy English village of Walmsley Parva has eased some of the financial strain on the two old school chums, but money is still tight in these years following the Great War. So when the local vicar - and pigeon-racing club president - approaches them with a private inquiry opportunity, the ladies accept. There's been a spot of bother: The treasurer has absconded with the club's funds and several prized birds. But when they visit the man's loft, they find their elusive quarry lying in white feathers and a pool of crimson blood - the only witnesses cooing mournfully.

Book two measures up
Revisado: 10-16-18
I became a fan of the series after the first title. This one is just as good. Barbara Rosenblatt is a favorite narrator.
Beryl and Edwina are old friends from school. When they find themselves without any money, they build on their success from solving a crime in book one by opening a private enquiry agency. The vicar is their first client and they are on their way to financial security.
This title takes place in England between WW I and WWII.

If I took off as much work time as Kathleen, I wouldn't keep my job. That's the perks of being the director. 😀
Enjoyable story. Light and easy. Villan rather easy to guess. But the book has cats!
