Historia
When Penny Dahl calls the Finders Keepers detective agency, hoping for help locating her missing daughter, Holly Gibney is reluctant to accept the case. Her partner, Pete, has Covid. Her (very complicated) mother has just passed away. And Holly is meant to be on leave. But something in Penny’s desperate voice makes it impossible to turn her down. Meanwhile, mere blocks from where Bonnie Dahl disappeared live Professors Rodney and Emily Harris. But they are also harboring a shocking, unholy secret.

The book is fine, but I couldn’t really enjoy it because THE VOICE of Holly wasn’t who narrated it!! Without his cadence and inflection that IS Holly I can’t hear the story as a Holly story. Just took me out of it.

Nobody Can ever do Holly like Will Patton
Revisado: 03-08-25
Usual King brilliance… I love almost everything the guy writes. But I have to say the highlight for me is the way Patton portrays Holly. The speech patterns, the inflections, the just right tone… nobody else does her justice for me. After the Outsider and his amazing performance with that I just can’t hear her in any other voice. Mr. Harrigan’s Phone was also very enjoyable.

Big Letdown
Revisado: 03-03-25
I really enjoyed the first 2 books in this series, but this one was just north of awful. Too much saccharine sentimentality. And the sex scenes… if wanted to read lonely housewife romance novels with overly descriptive words about private parts I would buy them. It was nauseating. Violet (and frankly others) is portrayed an idiot who NEVER follows orders and goes against good sense at her every whim. In a military college I can’t see the constant rule breaking being tolerated with little to no consequence other than petty games and foolishness. Don’t even get me started on Andarna, most annoying character in any book ever. The series may continue, I will not. Waste of time.
On Narration I’ll say the main narrator did a great job, but the random switching to multiple narrators was confusing and unnecessary. A lot of bad decisions were made in my opinion. Narratively and production wise.
If you’re a young woman you’ll probably love it. If you’re man and a fan of fantasy you’ll hate it as much as I did.

Maybe the biggest letdown book ever
Revisado: 02-11-25
Long, drawn out, jumpy, unsatisfying non conclusion… you name it. I love Sanderson but this book is hot garbage. Terrible. Absolutely hated it. Didn’t want to finish it but felt I needed to see it through. 60 hours of frustration and disappointment.

Not my favorite
Revisado: 10-28-24
Thought this was gonna give me the same satisfaction as Thursday Murder Club. Not so much. There are too many characters with benign names and purposes, that’s my biggest gripe. Buy that being said the first TMC wasn’t my favorite either, so maybe the next time it’ll be different??

I love me some Joe Dillard
Revisado: 10-18-24
I really miss Scott Pratt and looked forward to his books so much. Seemed like a great guy too. He writes with the authentic voice of a Tennessean. There are places backgrounds and locations he uses that are clearly real places we all know and I always liked that. It was like being told a story by a friend about “an old boy he knows” but in a much more eloquent manner. Rest Easy Brother Pratt and thank you for the tales.

Revisado: 10-10-24
I liked the book but felt it was a step down from the others in the series. Still very good, but awfully crowded character wise and the end felt abrupt. All in all still worth a listen.

If it’s Joe Abercrombie I’m here for it. Great new characters are brought into the narrative, plenty of action and even romance. Fast becoming one of my favorite authors. Better than the first book imo.
