Historia
Welcome to Derry, Maine. It’s a small city, a place as hauntingly familiar as your own hometown. Only in Derry the haunting is real. They were seven teenagers when they first stumbled upon the horror. Now they are grown-up men and women who have gone out into the big world to gain success and happiness. But the promise they made 28 years ago calls them reunite in the same place where, as teenagers, they battled an evil creature that preyed on the city’s children.

Didn't Float
Revisado: 12-14-23
I love the story. Always have. It has the charm and magic of childhood and an eery darkness. The narrator is just ... ok. He shouts a lot and reads in run-on sentences with emphasis on the wrong word sometimes. But, his lack of skill doesn't ruin the story.

Historia
When his picture appeared on the cover of Texas Monthly, Joaquin Jackson became the icon of the modern Texas Rangers. Nick Nolte modeled his character on him in the movie Extreme Prejudice. Jackson even had a speaking part of his own in The Good Old Boys with Tommy Lee Jones. But the role that Jackson has always played the best is that of the man who wears the silver badge cut from a Mexican cinco peso coin, a working Texas Ranger.

Entertaining
Revisado: 08-09-23
I enjoyed this memoir quite a bit. The narrator isn't perfect but, not altogether terrible- his accent sort of immerses the listener into the heart of Texas.
I enjoyed the brief historical facts given within the book, they definitely add to the story without being boring. The story isn't mind-blowing but it is definitely an entertaining interlude.

Historia
Eleven years have passed sub Lieutenant John Dunbar became Dances With Wolves and married Stands With A Fist, a white-born woman raised as a Comanche from early childhood. With their three children, they live peacefully in the village of Ten Bears. But there is unease in the air, caused by increased reports of violent confrontations with white soldiers, who want to drive the Comanches onto reservations. Disquiet turns to horror, and then to rage, when a band of white rangers descends on Ten Bear's village, slaughtering half its inhabitants and abducting Stands With A Fist and her baby.

heartbreaking and poignant. The "scenery" and flow of words are an epic combination. I enjoyed this sequel to "Dances With Wolves".

Historia
Ordered to hold an abandoned army post, John Dunbar found himself alone, beyond the edge of civilization. Thievery and survival soon forced him into the Indian camp, where he began a dangerous adventure that changed his life forever. Set in 1863, the novel follows Lieutenant John Dunbar on a magical journey from the ravages of the Civil War to the far reaches of the imperiled American frontier, a frontier he naively wants to see "before it is gone".

Historia
Charlie Reade looks like a regular high school kid, great at baseball and football, a decent student. But he carries a heavy load. His mom was killed in a horrific accident when he was seven, and grief drove his dad to drink. Charlie learned how to take care of himself—and his dad. When Charlie is seventeen, he meets a dog named Radar and her aging master, Howard Bowditch, a recluse in a big house at the top of a big hill, with a locked shed in the backyard. Sometimes strange sounds emerge from that shed.

Better Than I Thought
Revisado: 12-18-22
I didn't love this story at first. I found it slow-paced and long-winded. I stuck with it and I am glad I did. The narrator did a nice job and I'd listen to him again.

Historia
It has waited seven years for someone to come back to the rambling lakeside house called Pinecrest, which has stood empty since its last owner went missing. For upscale Chicago couple Dan and Merrill Brewster, the old midwestern manse is an ideal retreat, and for their kids, Eric and Marci, it's the perfect place to spend a lazy summer exploring.

this is my 2nd Gerritsen book. I was swept away by the characters, especially the ones from the past! The narrator has a very pleasant voice and it's a job well done!

Blown Away
Revisado: 10-28-21
I'm so happy that I listened to The Color Purple. Both heartbreaking and wonderful at once , the story is amazing. But, I was blown away by Samira Wiley's narration. From the very first sentence, her voice captured me and kept me listening. As a matter of fact, I enjoyed the narrator so much, I finished the book in ONE day!

In Harvest, the book that introduced us to Tess Gerritsen's unique blend of medical expertise, harrowing suspense, and brilliantly crafted plot twists, the dark side of medical research is exposed. Harvest vividly portrays a young woman doctor challenging a world where medical miracles and greed fuel a lethal conspiracy - and the bright lights of the O.R. conceal the ultimate corruption of genius.
