Historia
Running. Putting distance between himself and the relentless Night Brigade has been Nomad’s strategy for years. Staying one or two steps ahead of his pursuers by skipping through the Cosmere from one world to the next. But now, his powers too depleted to escape, Nomad finds himself trapped on Canticle, a planet that will kill anyone who doesn’t keep moving. Fleeing the fires of a sunrise that melts the very stones, he is instantly caught up in the struggle between a heartless tyrant and the brave rebels who defy him.

Fantastic Story, Amazing Animation
Revisado: 04-05-25
Phenomenal book, simultaneously hilarious, sobering, scientific, and action-packed. Sanderson brings his usual genius to a story that blends scifi and western with a dash of fantasy.
The narrator did a spectacular job carrying not just the characters' voices, but their emotions.

Historia
It's easy to feel at home in Mitford. In these high, green hills, the air is pure, the village is charming, and the people are generally lovable. Yet Father Tim, the bachelor rector, wants something more. Enter a dog the size of a sofa who moves in and won't go away. Add an attractive neighbor who begins wearing a path through the hedge. Now, stir in a lovable but unloved boy, a mystifying jewel theft, and a secret that's 60 years old.

Delightful and Surprisingly Deep
Revisado: 04-01-25
I'm revisiting the Mitford series after reading through the first few books once when I was young. To be honest, I missed all of the depth the story has to it and got bored, but now as an adult, I am delighted and astonished at how deep the series really is. If you've heard "At Home in Mitford" is pure fluff, it might come across that way to some people. However, I offer that it covers everything from death, dying, depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, burnout, abandonment, medical dramas and traumas, drug rings, jewel theives, dog thieves, questioning faith, returning to faith, praying, finding Christ, finding family, and navigating a life that is not as idyllic as it seems. And it does it without weighing down the reader; through all of this there is hope, strength, love, and faith.
An excellent read for anyone who needs something a little slower, a little kinder, and very encouraging.

I'm not sure I can quantify exactly what I love about this series, but I love it tremendously. The writing is easygoing and witty, the narrator does an absolutely spectacular job, and the characters are just likeable and fun to hear about. I hope we get another novel in this series!

Historia
At the turn of the 22nd century, scientists make a breakthrough in human spaceflight. Through a revolutionary method known as somaforming, astronauts can survive in hostile environments off Earth using synthetic biological supplementations. With the fragility of the body no longer a limiting factor, human beings are at last able to journey to neighboring exoplanets long known to harbor life. A team of these explorers, Ariadne O’Neill and her three crewmates, are hard at work in a planetary system 15 light-years from Sol, on a mission to ecologically survey four habitable worlds.

This is Romance, Not Serious Scifi
Revisado: 10-01-24
While I thoroughly enjoyed the science and exploration elements of this novella, the rest of the story felt like poorly written romance fanfic. A young, attractive woman on a decades-long mission with only three other humans, two of which are conveniently willing to sleep with her and the third is simply asexual. It was exceedingly weird. I just wanted cool, alien planets, not a throuple romance with some science thrown in.

Historia
Jacques McKeown is the most celebrated author of star-pilot fiction in the galaxy. He's rich, famous, and living in luxury, and his universe-wide fanbase eagerly awaits any news of his next book. There's just one small hitch. He's not Jacques McKeown. He's Dashford Pierce, star pilot and con artist, and if only the impatient calls from his publisher were the worst of his problems. There's also the last vestige of the Henderson crime gang, trouble brewing in the retired star-pilot community, and a small matter of somebody trying to kill him.

A Witty, Satirical Look at the Scifi Genre
Revisado: 08-24-24
I'm not sure if this is the final book of the Jacques McKeown series or not, but -- if it is -- that is an absolutely perfect and spectacular ending. A witty, satirical, and blunt commentary on the scifi genre (and humans' obsession with stories as a whole), this book is definitely one of my top favorite space operas. And Yahtzee Croshaw did a spectacular job narrating the Audible version.

Historia
This third edition to the Prince Roger Series takes the Bronze Barbarians across the Eastern Ocean of Marduk, facing giant sea monsters, pirates, and the barbarian nations that dwell on the other side. Their destination is a spaceport held by humans of questionable loyalties. As Roger comes nearer to making his way home, he learns that his attempted assassination was part of a larger plot. Not all is as it seems on Earth or on Marduk.

Excellent MilScifi with Superb Narration
Revisado: 05-30-24
First of all, the narration of this series is absolutely spectacular. Second of all, this is a really great series on its own. It does tend to get a little into the weeds with the descriptions and political chess games -- for my taste -- but the characters are exceedingly human and the humor is razor sharp.

A Gem Among Scifi Classics
Revisado: 03-05-24
This is my first time going through C.S. Lewis' Ransom Trilogy and I am absolutely delighted. The story is a little uneventful, but as Ransom said in the postscript letters: "...this is just the prologue." I am looking forward to the rest of the trilogy!
The narration is good, if a bit flat and monotone.

Excellent, Well-Narrated Adventure
Revisado: 02-16-24
Delightful! I love Jules Verne and while "20000 Leagues Under the Sea" is still my favorite, this story is absolutely excellent. Hans is very much my favorite character and the wry, sarcastic humor that is woven throughout the book is hilarious. I definitely recommend it!
The narrator did an oustanding job in capturing Axel's wry tone, his uncle's personality, and in his pronunciation of all the various languages that were used.

Another Excellent RCN Series Installment
Revisado: 11-02-23
I should put a disclaimer here that I love all the RCN books tremendously. The dynamic characters, the storytelling, the clean, easy-to-understand ship-to-ship battles; they make up a most excellent and fun to read/listen to space opera series. Some Golden Harbor is probably one of my least favorites, but that still puts it far ahead of other books and series. It focuses a bit too much on the political chess game that is being played around the characters for my taste, but there is still plenty to recommend it. Definitely enjoyed it!
