Miss Lizette Kent's life is in shambles. Not only did her mother just pass away, but she has been left without the means to provide for herself. While she is contemplating her future, she encounters an unexpected and vexing man: Tristan Westcott, a man that mistakenly seems to believe that she is the daughter of an earl, despite her insistence that she is not.

The long and winding road to a conclusion.
Revisado: 10-29-23
The story f Harry and his many acquaintances was interesting thus my 4 stars. The authors telling of the story was longer than necessary…verbose often… thus my 4 stars.
I do plan to read book 2 and book 3 because I need to find out what could possibly remain to be revealed about Harry Barnett.
The narration was very good thus my 5 stars.

Historia
New Orleans, 1944. Sabotage—that's the word on factory worker Justine Byrne's mind as she is repeatedly called to weld machine parts that keep failing with no clear cause. Could someone inside the secretive Carbon Division be deliberately undermining the factory's war efforts? Raised by her late parents to think logically, she also can't help wondering just what the oddly shaped carbon gadgets she assembles day after day have to do with the boats the factory builds....

Intriguing and well presented
Revisado: 10-06-23
My only less than 5 star assessment has to do with a couple of places in the story that required the reader to suspend disbelief. To avoid spoilers I will simply say that even though the writer established an exciting plot, well developed characters the twists and turns had some flaws. Regardless, I enjoyed the book and look forward to reading the next.

Completely enjoyed the Audible version of this title.
Revisado: 12-05-22
This book was chock full of thought provoking topics along with a deeply disturbing and complicated plot. The language and some of the characters opinions were disturbing but the fact is that the characters are written very realistically as to how a young group of people on social media would interact.Since I used an Audible edition to listen t the entire book I did not have the same reaction as others who found the mostly young characters “chatting” online and tweeting extensively throughout the unfolding of the story a bit annoying. I felt it was integral to the basis of the plot and the psychological and social development of the characters.
The author did an excellent job of treating this complicated telling of what was occurring between the characters and building suspense to solving of the complex case.
If this becomes a part of the TV series I look forward to seeing how the production handles the complicated chat threads of the game platform and the side tweets since it’s such a key part of the book. Can’t wait to see if Robin and Corm get past their unsatisfactory past relationship histories and see the opportunity that is obviously right in front of them.
