overall easy to understand historical lecture
Revisado: 10-26-22
the narrator in the great course was easy to follow along with. I didn't struggle to listen to this lecture series, and each lecture was interesting if aa little dry. The information in this lecture series was delivered in am easily understandable way and helped expand my view of the progression of Christianity and Paganism in Europe from Christianity's founding through the end of the pagan Era in europe.

Insightful
Revisado: 09-20-22
This book is very insightful into the traditions of the Dakota and Dakota stories. As well as filled with nuanced discussion of colonization brought about by the French, British, and American Empires upon the Indigenous peoples of North America. Everyone should read this book and meditate what they learn.

obviously a video that audio was taken from
Revisado: 04-12-22
I first learned about Great Courses from the Great Courses video streaming service. I'm pretty sure I watched a few episodes from a different course by this very professor. The weird breaks in audio that occur in this lecture series are obviously where the speaker is showing objects, maps, and graphs to the audience in a lecture hall or video. The audio was taken from a video series without cutting these pauses out of the audio. For some people this will be very hard to deal with.

could go a little slower
Revisado: 07-26-21
I'm once again trying to get into meditation and guided meditation seems to be a good introduction. The narrators voice is calm and soothing. I personally would like if the meditation had progressed a little slower. It can be difficult to connect with the body in this way as quickly as the narrator asks us to. However, other then that this is very good.

Historia
This riveting narrative explores the lives of six remarkable female pharaohs, from Hatshepsut to Cleopatra - women who ruled with real power - and shines a piercing light on our own perceptions of women in power today. Female rulers are a rare phenomenon - but thousands of years ago in ancient Egypt, women reigned supreme. But throughout human history, women in positions of power were more often used as political pawns in a male-dominated society. What was so special about ancient Egypt that provided women this kind of access to the highest political office?

It's hard to find good collections of Egyptian mythology that explains the cosmology of the religion. As well as keeping the morals of the different stories intact.
