Historia
Marcus Mosiah Garvey Jr. (1887-1940) was a Jamaican political activist, publisher, journalist, entrepreneur, and orator. The Philosophy and Opinions of Marcus Garvey (1923) is a collection of his speeches, setting out his vision of a united Africa. As an early proponent of the Back-to-Africa movement, he encouraged a sense of pride and self-worth among Africans and the African diaspora. Garvey deplored the view of poverty as a virtue and encourages Blacks to be empowered in every sphere of their lives.

Surprised!
Revisado: 01-25-25
It's amazing how those who control what you learn can control your destiny. That is one of the most powerful weapons on the planet. I have always considered Garvey in a negative fashion and was told that he was a buffoon. Reading his works show him as a brilliantman ahead of his time.

Historia
In this brilliant book, Isabel Wilkerson gives us a masterful portrait of an unseen phenomenon in America as she explores, through an immersive, deeply researched narrative and stories about real people, how America today and throughout its history has been shaped by a hidden caste system, a rigid hierarchy of human rankings. Beautifully written, original, and revealing, Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents is an eye-opening story of people and history, and a reexamination of what lies under the surface of ordinary lives and of American life today.

The book was a good read, but to much dread can become boring. By the last of the book, I was praying for the end. A good read for conspiracy theorists

Historia
The successful 1776 revolt against British rule in North America has been hailed almost universally as a great step forward for humanity. But the Africans then living in the colonies overwhelmingly sided with the British. In this trailblazing book, Gerald Horne shows that in the prelude to 1776, the abolition of slavery seemed all but inevitable in London, delighting Africans as much as it outraged slaveholders, and sparking the colonial revolt.

A Hidden History
Revisado: 11-03-24
It's amazing how history protrayed the African as subservient to pain and abuse without resistance. We as a people are blessed to have talent individual that can write about the true character of our people, and without a system that abort any attempt to protray the African American in a positive light.

Angela Davis has been a political activist at the cutting edge of the Black Liberation, feminist, queer, and prison-abolitionist movements for more than 50 years. Angela Davis: An Autobiography, first published and edited by Toni Morrison in 1974, is a powerful and commanding account of her early years in these struggles. Read by Angela Davis herself, this autobiography, told with warmth, brilliance, humor, and conviction, is a classic account of a life in struggle, with echoes in our own time.

Sad
Revisado: 11-01-24
Doctor Davis is such an intelligent individual. I only wish she would have used that intelligence to work within the system to make changes. Her attempt to change the philosophy of the USA was ill-fated and folly. She is blessed to be a citizen of the United States. In no communist country would her behavior would have been tolerated.

Historia
Immortal vigilantes from the time of Moses have planned the unthinkable. But how can you stop what you can’t see? The battle didn’t start this year...or even this millennium. It began when Moses was on Mt. Sinai. Tired of waiting on the One True God, the twelve tribes of Israel began worshipping a golden calf through pagan revelry. Many received immediate death for their idolatry, but 40 were handed a far worse punishment - endless life on earth with no chance to see the face of God.

Historia
The 1968 US presidential election was the young Lawrence O'Donnell's political awakening, and in the decades since it has remained one of his abiding fascinations. For years he has deployed one of America's shrewdest political minds to understanding its dynamics, not just because it is fascinating in itself but because in it is contained the essence of what makes America different and how we got to where we are now.

Historia
For two centuries, the deep-seated fear that many White people feel—of losing power, of losing economic standing, of losing a particular “way of life”—has been the driving force behind American politics and culture. And as we approach a future where White people will become a racial minority in the US, something estimated to occur as early as 2043, that fear is only intensifying, festering, and becoming more visible. Are we destined for a violent clash? What can we do to step into our country’s inevitable future, without tearing ourselves apart in the process?

Revisado: 10-05-24
Mr. Martin spews the same hatred and evilness that he indicts ex-president Trump. I guess it's a need for such harangue, but I fail to see the worth of such divisiveness. Why can't we focus on the positive aspects of our country instead of the racist and agitators of past racial animus? One has to ask the question how did Mr. Martin become so successful in what he claims to be such a bad country?

The Process
Revisado: 07-03-24
We have come an exceptionally long way but refuse to laud these gains. If we continue to focus on our sad history, we will never be able to move forward in a grand way. I think of our poor children born with a blank state of mind and have it filtrated with a victim and poor me mind set. We should rewrite our story to focus on our greatness. It is so sad that Minister Farrakhan preaches hatred of Anglos, His message is great for the race, but is often distracted by his hatred. We need a MKK to preach that message.
