I’ve been enjoying this series for many years, and Briggs didn’t disappoint with this latest story.

I think my favorite aspect is the seamless mixture of myths and legends from around the world. While Briggs has been doing this for the duration of this series, this book got very specific with Norse and Celtic mythology and certain indigenous mythologies.

I am hoping she can someday branch out into mythologies from African countries along with Asian countries, I would geek out over that to an epic extent lol

I love Petermans writing under normal circumstances, but this story was horrid from the beginning. The main character has no redeeming qualities at all. I couldn't even finish it before returning it to Audible. I'll certainly listen to more of her work, but this one definitely was not great.

I read the Blacksmith Queen quite a while ago and completely forgot about the series until recently. I loved the first book and equally love this one and the second book.

This is entertaining, funny, a bit steamy when necessary, good character development, a great narrator that sounds like a midwesterner. The depiction of all the Smythe family as midwesterners had me dying with laughter quite often. It's not common for a reader to use this accent at all, especially in the fantasy genre. For some reason pretty much all the fantasy novels I've listened to have one of two accents, British or bland American northern new England. I love the Smythe family, so much that I wish I had a family like that. The women in this series are incredibly stubborn, strong warriors, and at times utterly ridiculous, it's great! Honestly I find these characters to be inspiring in so many ways.

I can't wait to read about the next sister living with the dragons.

The Narrator distroyed these books for me

I tried really hard to like this book. I even got so sick of the narrator and her constant gulps, sniffles, and inconsistencies I went out and bought the book and read it instead. Unfortunately I had the readers voice stuck in my head while reading the book, which was a bit annoying. The narrators portrayal of Violet as rather self interested and her constant mind numbing dribble about Xaden got old really fast. The immaturity portrayed by the narrator among the characters, who are in their 20's, is breathtaking. I had to keep reminding myself that they were adults. Most of the characters act like they are in middle school or high school NOT college. With that in mind the sex scenes are really uncomfortable, it's really off putting. I should have just bought the books and not listened to them on Audible.

The story could have gone in SO many different directions but the ending was really...pretty terrible. It reminded me of so many stories that start out fun and appropriately intense, and then the sequels try hard to be more like Game of Thrones. While I loved Game of Thrones, waaay to many stories, and even TV shows, are trying to be like those books. Overall this book came across as trying to hard. I liked Fourth Wing, but also had to actually read it because the narrator got to be unbearable to listen to, plus, again, the characters seemed very immature.

Okay, lastly why are there repeat reviews? In other words I was reading through the reviews and some are posted three times, therefore it's hard to take the ratings seriously if they are counting 1 review 3 times. Is this an audible glitch? If the reviews are being counted 3 times than there are far less than 10k ratings. It's rather misleading.

Omg whoever recorded this needs to be fired. I couldn’t focus on the characters or story due to the obvious illness of the reader. The snuffling and clear congestion was terrible. I kept saying damn couldn’t anyone give her a few days off to get better? She made the characters sound like they were whiny 16yo’s not men and women in their 20s. The variation between characters was really confusing. They all started to sound the same. I have no idea if it’s a good story or not and I’m frustrated by that because the narrator is so terrible. Returning the book for my credit back.

A great series with a satisfying conclusion. The only issue I had with it was that it was a tad long winded. Perhaps if I hadn’t read the entire series in basically a couple weeks I might not have minded. I’m going to miss these characters moving forward. Maas is gifted in creating very good characters that are incredibly vivid to the reader. It will be difficult getting to know new characters in other books the same way I’ve grown to love each of the characters in this series.
This series has been a joy to read and listen to. I would love to see some more books in the same universe with different characters.

I love Cat and Bones, but this story had me a little bored. It seemed clipped and to short. While I understand it is more of a novella than a full length book, it seemed to be a waste of time on the authors part.

Cat is doing Cat things, rushing into situations without thinking per usual, and struggling to comes to terms with being a mother, but a lot of the time it just seems weirdly forced. Is this a YA novel? Yeah basically, with a few adult moments, but mostly I just found the characters to be predictable and the story line to be "meh". I didn't really need the story to still be interested in the characters, or to want to read more about them.

I see that Frost has come out with more in the series except from Bones perspective. I think it's a hard pass for me on that. Not because I wouldn't find that interesting but because Frost is just retelling the same story over again. Why?

I have loved this series from the beginning. Admittedly being a person who has watched 3 of my family member die of cancer, the cancer theme in the previous book was very hard for me to get through. This one however had Jane basically back to her old kick butt self and I appreciated that. It being the final book in Janes journey was hard to realize but thats what some of the fans are saying. I didn't know that when I began reading the book, so it made the book even more interesting knowing that.

Our favorite characters are back and many still exactly the same as when we began Jane's journey. One stood out as having matured and changed and that was Alex Younger and to an interesting extent Leo. Alex was a young teenager when we first met him and now he's this beautiful young man who is still brilliant. Leo has lost much of his Leoness, and is now very..."zen" maybe. That is a bit weird but understandable.

I enjoyed how Hunter brought back a ton of character from previous books for her final book in the series. It was nice to catch up on old characters and even ones I had completely forgotten about.

Jane will always be one of my favorite heroines along with Beast. Honestly I think I like Beast in many ways more than I like Jane. I guess I'm a cat person. lol

Overall I would recommend the entire series and say that you really can't just read this as a stand alone, there is WAY to much going that comes from previous books to jump in on the last. Fifteen books is a lot, (plus a ton of novellas) but you need to start at the first. This is not a series that can be read randomly, especially not this book.

Being a Vermonter…it was okay

Besides the few issues with the setting and inaccuracies in it, I thought it was very entertaining. Robert’s is a very good storyteller, after all she’s been doing it a long time. It is the same or similar formula to many of her other works, but sometimes that’s exactly what I’m looking for. No real surprises or plot twists just a good standard contemporary thriller romance novel.

A private plane to Middlebury airport is plausible if it were a very small plane, the runway is too short in reality for anything larger than a 4 seater. I found it to be far fetched. Why not BTV? It’s a 30 minute drive from BTV to pretty much all locations around Middlebury. I suspect her location was somewhere near Stowe VT or was supposed to be similar. There were a ton of other little things that any Vermonter would notice but small and not that important. It was weird hearing my first name of the main character and it be a woman who live in VT. There aren’t many main heroines named Morgan in any contemporary books, so that was cool. My life and Morgan Nash’s are completely different, but fun to hear.

I also found issue with the entire identity theft scenario. It wasn't very accurate at all. That was disappointing considering it doesn't take much research to find out what happens in these situations. It's completely terrifying, however how Robert's detailed it was false. She used several similar characters from her other books and similar wording like "my ladies" which she has used previously. It feels like she is just reusing what she knows works. Therefore this story was just Meh. Not bad, not good, but just Meh.

Never thought I’d say that but the amount of sex really was over the top. It felt like filler rather than adding anything to the story. I found myself skipping over it a lot. One of the best things about this series is the female bonding. I love how much these characters love each other, it’s really heartwarming. As women we don’t have each others backs enough like how it’s portrayed in this series. However that got overshadowed by the amount of jumping by the two main characters, like seriously?! C’mon?!!! The story was okay, but not as good as the first book. I think I just got really annoyed with the amount of basically porn going on, with a slight bdsm vibe. It’s just too much. I don’t think I’m going to continue the series as a result.
